Has anyone tried mixing brand parts with any success ? I was thinking more along the lines of mixing one brands mast and fuse with another brands front and rear wings ? Would it work ? Any thoughts ? What about other part combinations ?

There are rare options doing this without tough modifications.
Luckily SAB frontwings are compatible with slingshot fuses as most people now. A friend has the phantasm foil and got the sab 999 and 799. He was not happy with the orig. 730 frontwing. But now he looks for a solution for a bigger stab.

Anything is possible with a drill, heli coils and a bit of filler.
AFS to starboard fuse
Phantom to Starboard fuse

If your friend is still looking for a bigger stab:

Works great with both Phantasm and SabFoil front wings.
