When you want (and are able to) just speeding up in medium to strong wind (steady 17/18 kts up) with no stress to quickly take off as the wind is already full on and no stress to score any gybe because you're not into that, what kind of board shape and specs the board should be?
If you're already full on with a 6.2 (or even better with 5,2 or 4,3) and want to blast staying safely strapped with both feet, you want narrow or (relatively) wide tail? What's if you use a 71 cm specific board instead of a 78 similar program one? And what about the board length: around 210 cm vs 195 cm ?

Does the new designs "aero stuff" really matter?

Thx

p.s. is it possible that the foil wings aspect ratio influences the good match board dimensions vs sail dimension vs given condition (for the program i've described above) ?
Fast front wing evolved from super H7A to "avg" H/A

Lots of options/variables. So many wings to choose from. You want to "mow the lawn" and cruise, or carve around and "dance" ?.

Inboard straps for freestyle moves, outboard for railing up wind ?.

IMO, matching board size relative to sail/wing size to preferred conditions is ideal, similar to windsurfing. Anything larger than a 5.0 on my 114L board feels sluggish and awkward. I'm only interested in winds >18knots, and a 3.7 is perfect up to 25 knots. Small sails are so flippable and fun, makes jibes/duck jibes a blast. Also easy to uphaul.

Regarding wing span. The wider the span, the slower the turn, but it also depends on the wing shape. My SS G800 turned a lot slower than my Sab 769 medusa. The Sab is not that much narrower but the tips are much thinner with most of the chord length near the center of the wing. I don't use rear straps because of my conditions and riding style. If I turn too hard on the G800 my heal or toe will lift on my back foot due to resistance of the wing to roll, wheras I can turn as hard as I want with the 769 and maintain solid foot to board contact.

As I've found recently, rear wing choice has a big impact on stability and stall speed. So yet another option to consider.

As far as "staying safely strapped" goes...

For reference I'm 61yo @ 140lbs.
