Hi everyone,
Marmong Point Sailing Club is pleased to announce that we'll be running our Midwinter regatta on Saturday 8th July.
More details to come, but racing on the day will include Formula, together with Raceboards and the new Windfoil class if there's enough interest.
The club is located on George Street, Marmong Point on the shores of Lake Macquarie.
Don't forget to visit our Facebook page for regular updates and news about the club.

We also have a website set up with live weather / webcam feed from the club:

Hope to see lots of people on the water on 8th July!
Nice work James and the Marmong crew. Will be there with bells on(Christmas in July style) & looking forward to it![]()
Is it just a one day event? A marathon perhaps?? Or how many races per day?
Team Raceboard; who else might be keen?
Hi Ayreforce1, its just a one day event. We'll run up to 5 races on the day, wind permitting.
Cheers
James
2hr drive from the northern beaches; so what time is the briefing??
Might be around 8 or so RB's from Sydney.
What happens if there isn't enough wind to get Formula up and planing?
Will you still set races for the RB's?
Prepare the BBQ? carry our boards up from the water? crack the beers?
At the Dobroyd winter series on last Saturday. Arnie Shields asked around which Raceboarders are intending on going to the the Marmong Mid Winters. John Doolan and myself are keen and maybe others so I think we will get a fleet.
Up to three of us from Gosford looking at coming. Would be nice to have guide to times for :-

Hi everyone, great to see you're all keen for some racing.
Here's some more details
- Entry fee $30
- Registration 9:30am
- Briefing 10am
- First possible start 11am
The long range forecast is for a sunny day with a medium strength westerly which normally peaks around noon, so we'll be working hard to keep to the 11am start time. It can take 10-15 minutes to get out to the start line so please factor that into your timing on the day.
We can start the raceboards independent of the Formula fleet if the wind isn't quite there. The Formula/Raceboard course will be upwind/downwind, and will be explained at the briefing. Format of any windfoil races will be determined on the day.
If its easier you can pay the entry fee by Direct Deposit - BSB 062827 Account 00901519
See you on Saturday morning.
James
Great to see 14 sailors keen for some mid winter racing at Marmong today. We had two races in a moderate westerly before the wind died off and we drifted back to shore.
The raceboards dominated in the lighter winds, filling the top six places. Congratulations to the podium finishers:
- 1st Place - John Doolan (Gosford/St George SC)
- 2nd Place - Justin Lord (Stormriders)
- 3rd Place - Arnie Shields (Dobroyd)
Well done to Glen Morrell for competing in our first ever Windfoil race, getting around the full course and finishing ahead of the Formula guys in race 1.
Thanks to everyone who was part of the event, and see you next time. Photos below thanks to John Doolan.

Thanks James & the Marmong for the event, it was a cracker day despite the light breeze. How can you not like Lake Macquarie and it's always great to see everyone up there. Great fun. Very interesting to see a battle of the classes and it was particularly interesting to see a foil added to the mix. Nice work Glen Morrell. You were carving up the light breeze & looking pretty sweet out there mate. This should keep things interesting in the season ahead.
Cheers also to Rachel for putting on the hot stew for us. A particularly nice touch!
Very much looking forward to some Summer Club racing with you guys next season.![]()
