5.9 is plenty, 10 knot puff to get going This was at beginning of session, ended up with consistent 12 knots. If it's consistently above 12 will go to 4.8 foil freek.
Have ordered 5.6 foil freek to replace 5.9 freek ![]()
How much do you weigh? For me at 200 pounds there is no way I can make a 5.9 work in 12 kts of wind. Even my 7.0 requires some work with a 1350 cm2 wing (SAB 950).
Props and good on you for passing your 'ding friend downwind (instead of upwind) of him.
Just my thing I guess.

83kg(185 pounds).
9 meter with small wing and you will love it.
Haha, think you're missing the point of the post. Already loving it. Small sails and efficient foil for me all the way...
Here is a track from the previous day playing in the waves at Ballina River mouth was on FoilX125, 4.8 foil freek, Sabfoil 940/430. 12-16 knots

If I wanted to go fast would have kept my speed board and quiver of associated speed kit.... 20 knots on foil is plenty for me![]()
I am 86kg and can make it work with average 12k knots on sab 999 and 5.6s1
but much prefer it 15-20 knots and drop to the 799 and 4.7
the 950 is good foil though...
i dont bother with anything bigger than 5.6...i dont see the benefit unless you went to big race kit and i cant be bothered with the rigging faff and the rig bulk and weight
