Livorno, 18 October 2023. Starting this morning at 08:04 from Cala Spada, just north of Golfo Aranci in Sardinia, the windsurfer of the Italian Yacht Club Matteo Iachino has completed the crossing from Sardinia, arriving at 5.49pm today, 18 October, in Livorno with a time of 9h45m and sailing for around 200 miles (178 done by the support vessel), an hourly average close to 20 knots with peaks of almost 35 knots. An extraordinary and very hard undertaking, never taken for granted until the last mile. Weather conditions that were both optimal for fast navigation and challenging for the Ligurian athlete who crossed the Tyrrhenian Sea with a strong Sirocco and a rough sea with waves of a couple of meters."
