Is this what I need to enable my deep tuttle Infinity foil for a twin track board?
Or is there more to it?
thanks

Hard to tell based on the image, but you might want to make sure it's actually deep tuttle and not regular tuttle box. In the photo, it looks a bit like regular.

Thanks.
Should connect the mast to the plate directly, so the Tuttle option goes away.

Its to bolt onto the mast to make it plate system instead of DT - its correct

If you can find one, get the top base. If you look closely at the two cutouts, there is a tiny crack on both. They haven't gone right through and may well not get any worse. I have seen the same cracking on another one. The cutouts were possibly put in for weight saving??
If you want to try the one in the bottom picture you can have it...

Great Ken that's the one I have - the skeletonised one I better have a look!

I thought the lightweight one was for winging.

Thanks Ken,
Maybe it can be welded over?
Would that distort the plate?

Don't know about welding but the two I've seen with cracks have been pretty much identical so they may not progress further..????
It may well have been like that for years.
I did swap mine out though. Maybe someone else has more insight about it??

- Well, if a metal starts to crack, the crack will progress under the same load, until catastrophic failure (usually in the worst place, out at sea?).

It may well have been like that for years.
- Agreed, a S-L-O-W crack OR it's just started and been spotted.

I did swap mine out though. Maybe someone else has more insight about it??

- If you did swap it out, maybe cut the area affected in two, so as to see how far the crack has progressed. If you do that, I'd suggest you let Mark Oz know.

If you think about the turbine blades in a jet engine, they are swapped out as soon as the crack is spotted. Different applications, different loads, same result at failure.

I suspect that welding would likely distort the plate. Also, most certainly would create new weak points at the edges of each weld, where the heat changes the structure of the alloy. As well as destroying the anti-corrosion coating. (Speaking of corrosion, there would also be corrosion happening inside those cracks.)
So, any repair would require some extra reinforcement to that area. Looks like SS seriously underestimated the forces between a foil mast and board.

The old solid one should work too if you can find one if you have the black and orange mast. There was a wide aluminum mast that had a different plate, maybe that is where the lightweight for wing and wide for windfoil came from. I know in the old days we all windfoiled on the regular width one, but with the full plate. We didn't break the plate, but I broke bolts and fuselages occaisionally.

I would just go with the skeleton one unless you can find the solid online somewhere but they haven't been made in a while
