I'm looking at buying a new foil sail and can get a good deal on a hyperglide 4. Has anyone got any experience/feedback on this sail? There are tons of reviews, etc of the subsequent HyperGlide 5, but I can't find any info at all on the HG4 except for the original standard marketing blurb from Severne. It's almost like it never existed.
Im interested to know what differences (if any) there are between the HG4 and the HGO (IQ sail) and HG5. Also, just to check the HG4 wasn't flawed in some way, with the HG5 coming out fast afterwards to correct that.
Thanks in advance
I got the HG4 in 6 & 7m from a mate when he got his new HG5's.
Laying them on top of each other there is from memory, very little difference in the outline. The only notable difference was the luff pocket is bigger on the 5's.
Nothing wrong with the 4's as I got my Pb speed on the 6m. The 5's are faster than me on the 4's but he always is anyway.![]()

Thanks for the feedback mate, that's great to hear.
HG4s are quite a bit better than HGOs in cross-wind control.
HG5s are better than HG4s, but the margin of difference seems smaller (than HG4s vs. HGOs).
as noted, the larger double-luff sleeve is the main difference and a noticeable one in cross-wind speed.
