Dear Foil Community,
I have been foiling for 3 years now with my Horue Vini on my Goya Bolt. Now I would like to switch to a pure foil board.
It should be a Flikka Custom with 190x73 and 112L (the rough dimensions should be between Horue Tiny and Horue Tiny Pro).
I struggle with the mast position, so I would like to build on your experience.

I would move the front of the mast track 3-5cm (1,5-1,6 inches) towards the stern (compared to the Tiny 205) and extend the mast track to 25cm (10 inches) in length, so that I can get much further back.
Thereby I hope for an increased sail and foil selection for the later intended foilstyling. Especially in comparison with the MB Pegasus and the Slingshot Freestyle 115, the mast track on Horue is very far forward.

But first I want to continue the Horue Vini (v1), so I would like to know with which mast positions you drive your Tinys (with or without the Vinis). Have you ever needed a relatively far forward position on the board or have you always stayed in the middle or to the back?

I weigh 73kg and sail between 4.5 and 6 m? on the foil.

Thanks for your help

Best regards,
Michael

Maybe measure the distance between the mast base and foil on the bolt, that gives you a balanced foil position, and center the new board's mast track on that measurement? On my bolt 135 I have the mast base almost to the rear of the mast track (1/4" to spare) with an AFS W95 foil and F-series wings to be balanced in flight. FYI, I have no plans to go to a foil specific board, bolt suits me just fine!, except for the concave deck ridge hitting the mast, but which is no longer an issue with a 3/4" mast base spacer.

I have only ridden a tiny/vini combo once, and thats 4 years ago, so cant really comment...

However, my most used board is 180x73cm (an F-One Rocketwind 105L prototype). I have my masttrack starting 95cm from the frontbolt. Tbh, if I had my way it would start at 80-85cm, but because it had to be a productionboard we opted for a more approachable placement.

If you start at 85cm and take one of 25cm in length, you can go as far forward as 110cm! I never ever ride that far forward except with racing kit & big sails. Assuming you would mainly use the board with 6.0 an below I think you might not even use it past 100cm. In addition, the vini is tunable right? By sliding the stab forward/aft? That should be able to compensate for anything.

You could also ask Flikka, I know the Horue Femto has the track way farther back than the Tiny, and that one seems to work just fine. Flikka should know the track placement measurements of the Femto.

I own a a Vini and a very close copy of the Tiny. I spent hundreds of sessions on it learning to foil (its the kit on my head in my avatar). I am 100 kg and ride sails 6m^2 or less, more often less. The sail eneded up at the back of the track always. The mast on the vini rakes forward and so do the wings. This is awesome but makes comparison of forward bolt to UJ dimesnsions less relavant across brands. Ask Phil at Horue for guidance or as WOH suggests Flika. In my experience as sail size and fuse length decrease so should the distance between the foil and the sail. Once this distance decreases it becomes more about how you move your body weight rather than where you locate or trim the sail. I think Phill has the track on the Tiny so far forward to accomadate sails in the mid 6 meter range. For me there is not enough float for all that. On the Femo things are much more compact.
The challenge with triming the stab is that it is slower and the lift never goes away so when the sail unloads it requires more of a weight correction. Fine for racing or freerace but a compromise if you want to downwind, surf or foilstyle.
You mentioned foilstyle, Bals Muller has been advocating much smaller dimensions between the foil and sail than is the current industry norm. HIs numbers are consistent with what WOH is suggesting above.

Thanks for the Imput.
Right now I have 83cm from the front of the Foilbox to the Start of the Masttrack. So I could end at about 85cm. Therefore im lossing a bit less than 1/3 of the orginal Tiny track. Maby im going 3 more cm back to get to 80/82cm.
I watched also some Videos with Vini / Tiny from private dudes and Horue. Most of them are driving in the middle Part.

The Vini ist tunable but I dont want to use it.
I must use it on the bolt very excessive but it creates the Problem that utc mentioned. At low speed there is not much Lift, at high speed there is too much lift.
