This one is real long :) but at least the scenery is different for a change. Parts of the river had some of the biggest swells i have ever been in

Super vid - nice powered-up downwinding at 11.35
The bigger swells look like ocean swells.

I'd like to visit next summer, where did you stay?

I camped at viento state park but i wouldn't recommend that. I would just book an Airbnb in hood river. Most of the sailing is right in town, and on foil you can cross the river easier than driving. I guess there are days where you head up or down river to get the wind.

Camping in most of the Gorge involves getting used to the noise of passing trains all night after a few days it kinda blends in!

Exactly. Apparently there are some private camp grounds in Washington that are a bit more peaceful

Cool vid Door. Those swells are huge. I've been up there a couple of times while working in Portland just to check it out. Both times were no wind days, but the Full Sail brewery was nice .

IMHO Stevenson WA has the best foiling in the gorge. Swells are not as big as the corridor, but wind is steadier, no crowds, spectacular views (like sailing in the Alps), and great friendly stoke. Skamania Coves campround has highway and train noise, but also an excellent private launch. Timberlake Campground and RV is quiet and a short drive to the WA launches. Pine Street Retreat is an airbnb across the street from my house, and a 5 minute walk to the Stevenson launches. Lots of other options as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for those tips on accommodation. I tried to sail Stevenson area the first day I arrived but got there too late. I did manage to harvest some weed though.

Too funny, Vento sounds the same as in the 80's. We rolled in after dark and were thrilled to find a campsite. We did not realize it was only a few meters from the train track and a couple hours later I almost had a heart attack when a train rolled through. I thought it was going to come right through the tent .

There are are tracks along the river on both sides with very regular train traffic but you do get use to it. There are campsites away from the river that are more peaceful.

The gorge is awesome its has conditions for everyone. You just need to travel 30min to find big differences in wind strength. It also has so much more like mountain biking, hiking, heck you can even go snowboarding in the morning on Mount Hood and foil in the afternoon. I haven't been in years but from what I have heard the vibe is still pretty cool.

Anyone know if there might be board and rig rentals - I'd probably bring the foil.

Not sure about rentals of foil boards, but for all the footage you put out there I think slingshot should hook you up big time. They are located right there. Maybe reach out to wyatt miller on IG as he is there in the summers and would likely be able to procure some gear for you.

Loads of board and rig rentals. You can rent wing gear right at the beach at Waterfront Park. Slingshot is just across the street and I can get Tony Logosz and the guys to loan some gear if needed. Best time of the year for wind and swell is July, river is still flowing pretty strong and that kicks up the swell. Book accommodation early, gets pretty busy here in Summer.....and no you can't camp in my front yard!

Cheers Roo - next July sounds great. The Gorge has been on my wish list for ever.
Be awesome if I could borrow or rent a Wizard 114, 90 or 87, that would be the tricky bit - I'm not picky with the rigs so I'm sure I'll find a rental

Shouldn't be a problem finding a Wizard, loads of gear to be had here. If you bring lots of cherry ripes, killer pythons and snakes alive something will be sorted for you!
