Stoked with the FOV and horizon lock of the Max Lens Mod though sadly like all GoPros it underplays the swell size, actual size was about 1.5m.
Have to wait for a 30 knot seabreeze and max 2.5m windswells to seem them on the vid

SW 22 knots - favourite Simmer 4m Blacktip Legacy sail and 920cm2 Blackbird Race wing

Hey Azmeth

I love the back foot in between the back straps technique!
oh and great video. Yeah waves shrink with these angles. The price you pay for self recording.

Ah... the ol' "the camera makes it look smaller than it really is" line oft repeated on tinder.

Michael Jackson would have been impressed with the foot switch at 2:32. Nice soundtrack choice!

Great work as usual azymuth !. I can't imaging riding swell that huge at speed. I know how camera's flatten everything out. Props !!.

Who else but The Avalanches would mix Karen Carpenter and Mick Jones into a track

Amazing clip JJ! Because of you i now have a hero11
May i ask you about the mount to the boom? How long is the rod and do you feel the weight of the gopro at the ride? 11 is heavier than my old 7. Do you use a remote for on/off?
Cheers Pat

Cheers Pat

The rod is a section of sail batten, 60cm long. The camera mount adjusts vertically and horizontally (essential).
The boom fitting would probably work better rotated 90 degrees (knob outwards).

I feel the weight especially with small sails but it's ok.
Getting in and out of shorebreak or rocks without smashing the camera is more of an issue.
Also you have to be careful to flip the sail slowly when waterstarting.

I don't use a remote - continuous record for the 45 minutes of battery life.

Look forward to seeing your vids

awesome vid JJ and thanks for the how to boom mount.

I used a section of carbon SUP paddle one time and the swing weight when flipping the sail was awful.

I think Santa is bringing the gopro 11 this year, looking forward to capturing DTL foiling here this winter

I used a carbon batten wich broke the first time it hit the water.
This video explains how to use a simple PVC pipe which does not break :

Thanks JJ and Bellerophone. 60cm is quite long. A massive glass fiber batten should not easily break like a hollow carbon one. But may sway much more. A easy way to assemble and deassemble to the boom is a must for me. Don't want my boom with such a long thing at the end all the time. But the pvc tube version is great for a first try.
We now have winter in switzerland, sadly cold and no wind at all. Must wait for spring. So enough time to create the mount.

I have this silicone cover and glass protectors from aliexpress for little money:

I hope Santa does the right thing - those waves you occasionally seem to get look epic for DTL windfoiling.
Definitely worth filming with a decent GoPro setup

I have had good luck with this:

Minimal swing weight.

We have had 2 hurricanes in the last month, and it has screwed up the surf big time.

All the sand has been drawn out to sea and created a smooth table so the waves are not jacking up right... I have no idea how
long it will take to get back to normal...gutted
