Hi all,

I want to buy a longer fuse to stiffen up pitch on a new 2021 90L SS Wizard (us track box) that i have just bought.
I use Naish foiling kit and they make longer 95cm fuses for both us track and tuttle box's. The mast connection on the tuttle fuse is further back than on the us / track fuse to accommodate for the difference in foil box positioning between the two types of boxes.

My other board is a 2019 105L Wizard (tuttle box), which would also benefit from a longer fuse sometimes.
As i don't want to buy two 95cm fuses, one for us track box and one for tuttle box, i was wondering what the best compromise would be. Ie which of the two fuses should i buy for use with both boards?

I was thinking i'll go with the us track fuse, as it will be perfect for my new 90L Wizard, and it's this board i want to stiffen things up on moreso than on my 105L.

I was wondering, would using the us track fuse on my 105L (tutttle box) stiffen things up alot more than the 80cm fuse i'm currently using, given it's made for a us track foil box board? Also, is it possible that it might place the front wing too far back and potentially be no good on a board with tuttle box?

Mabey i would be better off going the other way and getting a tuttle fuse, having this set perfectly on 105L (tuttle box board), and then when putting it on my 90L (us track box board) compensating for the incorrect placement of the front wing by moving my foil mast along the tracks? I'm assuming i'll need to move it forward.

Also, ive been told that a longer fuse will also, aside from pitch, also stiffen up roll and awe . Can anyone confirm this?

Any comments appreciated.

Hi Sambo,
regarding the Naish fuse:
1 - If you want the longer fuse for the track mount, you also have to buy a new S27 mast, because it is only available for S27 models, which are not compatible with older gear.

2 - I have the S26 longer fuse for Tuttle boxes, I got it from Europe last year, not sure if it is still available. I am using it on a track mount. It definitely brings the front wing too far forward, I had to add footstrap inserts further forward and keep the sail foot quite forward , while moving the track all the way back. It is true that it slows down the pitch movements, didn't notice any other changes.

Pity you live far, otherwise would let you try mine. Every year I spend time in Beachport in Feb, but its a few months away.

Thanks mate, I was aware that u need to buy S27 mast for S27 95cm fuse. That good how u got the 95cm Tuttle fuse balanced on track mount box. They sell S27 95cm fuse for tracks too. You probably don't want to hear that after already having modified you board though.

Thanks for offer for the try. I'll look out for someone on a Naish micro with modified strap inserts if I'm ever at Beachport Overthe summer.

If I was in your shoes I would buy the fuse for track mount, Slingshot say this is the future and they are dropping the tuttle.
Maybe get the measurements and work out where your front wing would end up on the tuttle box and see if you can adjust the strap positions

That's what I'm gonna do. I might get tracks fitted to my 105L as well until I replace it with a newer board with tracks.
Thnx.

The track mount fuselage will be less directionally stable/more turny because the mast is closer to the wing and your back foot.
