After over a 100 sessions of use, a friend blew out his Hydra Pro 7.0 and is looking for a replacement. Of course, he's looking at the Ezzy Cross. Anything else out there that's a) available in the US, b) compatible with his existing Ezzy rdm masts and c) oriented towards "faster" riding on his SABFoil w1000 and w800. He doesn't race but prefers zippy over a more curvy, turny or sedate ride. Open to cams. A full on race like HG, etc probably not in the cards as he isn't the most gentle on gear.
Sailworks Flyer FR comes to mind but not sure about the rdm/sdm issue on the 7. Any other ideas?
The foil glide 2 (freeride cammed one) rigs really well on the ezzy hookipa. I got one used because my friend is so light he ended up just needing a 6.0 for his light wind sail and didn't really use the 7.0. I think AWS also says that it looks like it's bigger than "7.0".
New, it is probably pricier than the Flyer. Haven't directly compared them though but lots of guys love those.
The Foilglide 2 7.0 is an excellent sail but depending on what is quiver is like may create gaps or overlap, because it's a very big "7.0" - equivalent in actual area to a lot of sails with a stated area of 7.4-7.6, including some Ezzys. The Flyer FR is terrific but takes SDM. The older Flyer is worth a look, though - RDM and plenty fast, although much lower-aspect than the current trend for Foil sails. It'll rig OK on Ezzy Hookipa although imo slightly prefers a harder top. I rig mine on Nolimitz 430 base/460top which gives me more stability than 430/430.
I liked the Phantom Iris 6.8 the one time I tried it, and the S2Maui Osprey looks amazing though I haven't been on one yet.
Thanks, all. Was worried that the FG might not like the softer top Ezzy. S2Maui Osprey is very nice - own one - but seems to be sdm only like the Flyer FR. Don't know if cams can be switched out. Definitely rigs nicely on slightly stiffer top mast. Forwarding him the comments.
The flyer and flyer FR has to be one of the most highly developed foil sails I reckon. I think that team probably does more freeride wind foiling than any other sailmaker
Other sails work forsure but if someone is 100% foil and needs a bit more power you can't really go wrong with flyer, espescially if they want a cammed sail that's easy to rig and water start.

You have Ezzy masts, why not stick with the best -Ezzy cross or Ezzy wave if you want a softer feel. Both are great foiling sails.
