Couple of days back to back over here with similar wind conditions, gusty 14 - 22ish knts but different setups for a bit of variety, both loads of fun.
First is a Hydro 135 with AFD wind 95, S670 front wing and a 6.2 Pryde V8. Love the locked in feeling of slalom style sailing and pushing the speed a bit, fastest here was a 26.78.
The other is a Stingray 115 Ltd with the Alu 3.0, 90cm mast and fuse, Flow 1000 wing and a 4.7 Combat. So much more lively under the feet, great fun to play around on the little wind swell, quite fw more dropped gybes with this one ![]()
I'm using the Stingray 115 as my primary board too. I love it for both wind and wing. Where are you placing the mast bases in the tracks? I'm still sailing it strapless as I'm recovering from a snapped fibula, but I see that you have your straps pretty inboard.
Great footage. What is it about the Stingray set up that makes it harder to gybe?
For one, the water state is different. Spent a day earlier this week in similar conditions and short swell can make a nice jibe turn ugly.
Daithidmg, impressive riding. Thanks for sharing.

yeah. I thought it would be much harder to gybe the slalom/freerace kit than the freeride kit. those look like some pretty advanced freerace gybes. Maybe OP is more experienced on the freerace kit
Thanks--great video. Impressive riding and really skillful drone work. As a drone flyer who's lost one, I appreciate just how low it was flying at times. Pucker......

Thanks for posting, stoked to see windfoilers from around the globe ![]()
Hey All, thanks for the kind comments, great to connect with fellow addicts from around the world![]()
@Bullroarer - For the Foil mast I have it about 2 notches back from the recommended, rec felt way too far forward. For the mastfoot I have it around 1/3 from the back, feels like a nice balance for 4.2 - 5.8. Put the footstraps in the inboard ws positions to make the most of the turny feel and get used to being more over the board. Will give the winging a go when the weather gets a bit warmer again and my 1500 front wing arrives. What foil setup are you using for the winging? Hope the leg heals fully soon.
@Troy - thedoor - It's not particularly harder to gybe, just different especially when sailing them back to back in different sea states. I have been sailing the 135 for longer and love the feeling of cranking in fast gybes on flat water, feels like it's on rails. The Stingray is narrower has the mastfoot closer to the foil and the trim a little further forward all of which make the trim a little more sensitive, so just takes a little more concentrating to keep the weight forward during the rig flip and exit. These characteristics are also what make it so turny and playful especially in a small swell.
@CoreAS - I'm over in the glorious emerald isle, Ireland,
This is just North of Dublin, lucky to have 4 or 5 fun spots to sail no more than 20mins drive from home. It really is a windsurfers paradise over here, as long as you're not expecting heat ![]()
Happy flying,
Dave
For winging I am using the v2 HA 1750 at the recommended mark. Gets flying really easy and there is still plenty of room up front. I will start experimenting with dropping it back further though as my front foot is on the sail track.
For windfoil I am using the v2 1500 most of the time. In that case I have it pretty far back in the box because of how far forward the v2 fuse pushes the foil. I have also used the HA1750 in light winds at the mark. I think my sail position is pretty close to yours. (85 kg)
