I hit some driftwood this week. Not really funny ![]()
Even snagging a small branch (1 cm or less) with leaves in the water is enough. When we had hard rains and the water levels rose last winter here (Northern Hemisphere), there was all sorts of crap in the water including logs. That made you pay attention.
Hope you didn't break anything.
Yeah, it was about 4cm thick but quite long and bobbed vertically. Much driftwood here at lake constance.
Plastic bags are nasty too.

Even hitting fish on the Columbia River will put you down. The good news is the subsequent fish dinner.

I hit a floating dead fish one time mid gybe I saw it late and overreacted to try and miss it, but still hit it and ended up breaching and some how landed on the sail. No damage![]()
As said, everyone's done it.
Thrice I've stupidly tried to stay with slalom sailors on my 1220. Thrice I got launched hooked in going at the high teens.
3 other times, hitting something under the water= a slow "Laugh in" kind of fall, slung around to leeward of my kit.
Should jumped and tried a forward.
I hit a dugong last year..... (yes... I wasn't looking
) nothing broken but harness lines had disapeared after the catapult.![]()
