Actually seriously thinking about getting a foil for summer.
Anyone have one? Do you like it?
How much are they? I know Horue, what others should I look at?
Sorry, serious question for those who know about the comparison.
If a windsurfer with a foil is running a six meter sail and the kite foiler is running an eighteen meter foil kite. What's the point?
Can the windsurfer benefit from this? that is, could a windsurfer replace a long board with a more efficient 12m or 6m rig to foil v the kitefoil? No idea, just asking ![]()
Seems like we're all heading in a "Go Fast" direction, just wondering whether it would be worth putting the attitude to aside and come up with a versatile solution ![]()
What I know about foils is from reading about them.
You might need to reinforce a deep tuttle box to take a hydrofoil.
The race kite foils are designed to go fast and are smaller and higher aspect ratio. Slightly larger versions are used by kiters in low wind with very powerful 18m ram-air kites. Race foils can be pumped onto a plane to help them start earlier - as you can see in this video - and that should apply to light wind freeride foils too.

Looking at the prices - seem to be about $2400+ and then postage from Europe. Is it worth it? I could get a new board for that. And then they seem to requite a tuttle fin box, do they come in powerbox?
Horue?
Makofoil?

Horue seem to reckon that even a deep tuttle box might need reinforcing.
Would you trust all that extra leverage on a 1 bolt power box?
Yeah - fair point.
one thing we noticed is that you really need a top notch sail !!
Too funny with the old (Dufour?) sail.
And I guess that once you are planning/flying the board isn't important anymore ?
Or is a large surface area allows you to fly better ?
