Hello,

I looking to replace my SS infinity 84 and 76 that I use currently on a magic carpet 120 and pocket air 5'8 for a Sabfoil more modern front wing shape (less low aspect). I am thinking at the W950 or W899 any experience/feedback on those wing?
looking to improve take off and speed.
I am 1,82 m tall for 75kg

thank you
regards
Sam

Hi Sam

Don't underestimate the low end of the 799. Although it's only 1100sqcm it easily covers the range of the i76.

Never used the 950, but i suspect it is a better version of the 790 (Moses version of i76).

The 899 is a bigger version of the 799 and has very similar ride characteristics. Just lower stall speed and lower max speed.

I only bring out the 899 for marginal conditions eg 10-15mph, otherwise i am on 799

This is 899

Yet to try the 999, but i am thinking it might be possible to go from 799 to 999 and skip 899

I have both. I weigh 200 lb.

When I snowbird to Florida, I foil with the i76 in winds from 5.0 to 7.0. I also have the AFS-2 down there (I'm still tuning it).

At home I have SABfoil (105 cm mast, 900 mm fuse, 450 stab). My favorite wing is the 950, with the 940 a close second. I also have the 790 for jibe practice, and the the 720 for those really windy days. I run -0.5 deg shim on the stab and -1.0 deg shim for the 720.

You can't go wrong with the SAB 950 wing. Lifts easily and early, flies with steady pitch over a wide speed range, and is reasonably turny. The 940 is pretty much the same, but about 2 mph faster. The 790 is the equivalent of the i76 and is very turny and lifty. Two of my friends here make really good speed on the 790, and they foil it in winds all the way up to a 2.8 sail.

Hello,

thank you for your really interesting feedback.
after some thinking I will follow The door advice and go with the 799 as a start and once I will have some experience on it I will see the need of a bigger or super bigger one

I think that area on a mid aspect foil works well for 75kg and below. If you go bigger later on, I suspect you won't go a lot bigger on. Much bigger than 14-1500 and the drag outweighs any modest improvement in low speed/light wind performance.

Hello,

I finally manage to test the W799 last Sunday,
Stabilizer S399
900 fuselage for AL mast to use it with my slingshot mast.
Magic carpet 120
and loft Wavescape 6,2

wind was between 8 and 12kts from 10-11kts I was flying able to go through the 8kts patch.
the 799 compare to the I84 and I76 are day and night, find it easier to take off, less draggy, faster, more manoeuvrable.
really love it.

next test for lighter wind, I will use my falcon 148l with switch blade 7,8, was working with the I76 on C position.
and also on higher wind with my pocket aire 5'8
