Finally! After 2 years of messing around, I finally managed to make flying jibes. Two years? Do I hear you think? I am missing 1 knee joint which makes it a little more challenging. But this may make the kick even greater. For those who are still struggling What made the difference for me was this: Releasing pressure when initiating the turn. Do not make the bend too wide and keep pressure on the inner rail. Keep the mast 90? in relation to the board. The sail almost turns by itself. Bringing the board down at the time of the foot change. After this, the board (for me) comes up again by itself.

super stoked.

Congrats! And I don't think two years is outrageous. Took me about that long too. And then I got in bumpy water and felt like I had to learn again and I'm still only about 50% when it really gets frothy.

Congratulations! Yeah the constant rail pressure made a huge difference to me. So many of my jibes were blown with a terrible, timid carve.

Well done Yes trust the foil and gybe with a constant carve, let go of the sheet hand early and the sail will come around for you. The earlier you flip the sail the less likely you will need to touch down to change feet.
If possible sail out of gybe in switch stance (not sure how this will go with bung knee, but you got this far)
Get this right, you can gybe back the othe way without having change stance. In swell I use this method to chase rides

Nice!!! I struggled also about 2 years but now i gybe well and easy. When you manage this you can stay on the foils in the lulls and gybe in a gust, then your low end is increasing by much!

Ironically spending some time winging really helped my windfoil jibes. With the wing you learn to ride the foil more and I think you get a better sense of how long it will keep you flying if you trust it. In the wing jibe you raise it over your head early to depower and basically float around. As soon as I applied this to the windfoil jibe - let the back hand go early and float around - everything clicked.

Yeeew! Congrats!
Took me a couple years too.
+1 for releasing the back hand early! That was my breakthrough moment and it's where I see others struggle when learning. Particularly ones with strong windsurfing backgrounds.
Thanks for posting and letting us share in your stoke!
