Decided it was time to dig the 5.6 speed sail out of the shed and give her a run on the foil. Bit of tuning to do and really gusty, 16 - 30+knts, so not that fast with a peak of 26knts but potential there for 30knts+ with a more consistent run.
Foil: AFS Wind 95, F700s wing, JP Hydro 135, Pryde Evo VIII 5.6m

Great video, music and drone footage, super cool

I got 27.2 knots out of the NP/F4 foil (2018) on the JP 135 and V8 6.7 everything was going well until I got the speed wobbles, foiled out then hit my head on the mast and skidded along the luff sleeve on my face...lol.

I packed in the speed foiling after that!.......well maybe one day I'll try again

Cheers

Done that one too , helmet on the to do list

Have done 27.1 on a 6.2 V8 as well, think it might actually be a more optimal setup

Nice sailing and nice drone work. Flying that low is high risk--been there, lost one.

Lovely bit of water for pushing it in that much wind. Encourages me to give my 700s a go sometime if I can dig out a racy 6 or less.

Daithidmg and Paducah, which rear wing are you two using with the F700s, the original V1 that came with the W95 or the V2?

Wow! That is so dangerous experience. What is "speed wobble"? How should we prevent when foiling?

Stay sheeted in and commit. The wobble only starts because you start unloading the mast/ wing.

I'm using the V2 rear there, definitely gives a slippier feel than the V1 and pretty much just as stable at speed.

Pretty much as DarrylG said keep sheeted in and keep the hips upper body committed forward. Oddly enough it's the lulls that sometimes catch you out, the rig unloads as it loses power and lets the foil start to rise so you've always got to be looking ahead / upwind to anticipate.

Great vid. interesting to see your body position in comparison to the other speed vid at 37knots. You are still very upright while other was clenching butt hunkered down very low and prob sending it right off the wind.
I'm so keen to get where you are (I'm at 22knots) but 30knts for me, hell I dunno!?! Lol
keep at it and keep us entertained
