Played around with camera angles to try and best show a downwind run - used a 40cm extension on the end of the boom.

What's frothy about windfoil downwinding is you don't need groundswell and waves - wind over 15-18 knots generates windswell of about a metre, heaps of energy to carve with a foil.
Broad-reach full-speed across the swell walls then rail carve down the faces - flying downhill 2m swells for 50m, smaller swells for maybe 20m, then carve back up the faces and repeat the cycle.
Deeper downwind in stronger winds, broad reaching in lighter winds to maintain power and speed.
Mind-blowing fun

Phantasm PTM 835 high-aspect custom wing, 103W carbon mast, Simmer Tricera 5m
SW 18 knots, 1-1.5m swells

Awesome as usual !. Love the boom extension camera view. Nice to be able to see everything. Is the PTM faster over the PFI 730 ?. Curious on wing selection choices.

Top speed seems about the same, the PTM accelerates quicker and is more playful (at 835mm).
The PFI 730 has a greater wind range (used in 10-35 knots).
If I had to choose one wing I would choose the PFI 730 over the stock PTM 926.
Be interested to hear what Dean says, I know he's ridden both wings.

Great job and sound track, gives the feeling of doing it, and that is what I was doing today!

Stoked you're into it, do you have any video?
Downwind foiling is such an awesome new sport but not much vid online to compare technique/froth over

Great video
captures the downwind carve nicely
The ship on the horizon shows your constantly changing direction and the camera angle shows how much your body moves to maintain constant height while carving down wind
Great job

Clue view is the best pov to see what is going on: the stance, the foot work, etc. Helmet cams hardly show anything. Ridiculous distortions of 360 cams do not do it for me either. Showing my age I guess. I use www.chathamwindandtime.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=135

First of all fantastic video, I love that camera extension mount for the camera, a great idea.

The 103W mast is perfect for your big chunky ground swell action, if I can get out in the swell more here I will definitely test one, having that extra bit of mast height in the troughs will be perfect.

I have to go PTM 926 for light winds 8-14mph, the glide in light wind transitions is unreal, and I will go PFI 730 for the 15-25+ when you need control and hard carving like what's perfectly demonstrated in your video JJ

I just ordered one. I like its design better than mine. In case you want to "roll your own," here is what I made from pvc pipe. It works well, but the long moment arm is noticeable out on the water. The camera case shown is for a Contour, but you could put any camera out there, such as any GoPro.
