Hi all,
Does anyone know the draft location of the Severne S1 and Severne Redback ? I think I remember someone saying years ago that the S1 draft location is back and low ( ie pretty much between the hands ?). Unlike the Blade where it is high and forward. Can anyone confirm this or correct it ?
I've been told the Redback draft location is pretty much the same as for S1. So if S1 is pretty much low and back I'm thinking about maybe getting a small Redback, one around 3.0m and trying it for wind foiling.
Also, I remain unconvinced it's that important for foiling. At least on the sub-5 sails I usually use. Willing to be convinced however.

I use sub 5m sails too. I won't try to convince you but I personally find that having the draft between the hands makes thinks easier.

But don't you naturally move your hands so the draft is between them? I'm not trying to be funny. I just don't get the arguement.
I don't know exactly what you mean, but my hands stay pretty much fixed in one spot on my boom when foiling. The draft of the sail does not move around so you don't really need to move your hands on the boom when foiling if your hooked into your harness. Some times I move my hands up and down the boom a bit when not hooked into my harness but I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the position of the sail draft. This is just me though. Others might do things differently.
Sails with a high and forward draft are "forward pully". Ie they have a forward pulling feel to them. Some people don't like this feel whether it be for finning or foiling, and some can't feel the forward pull. Again, as I mention above, having the draft central and low (between the hands) makes things easier. At least for me anyway. I find a forward and high draft can be awkward and make things difficult sometimes. At least with the sails I have used so far.
I follow what you're saying now. I misunderstood before. My point was, even with a draft forward sail, you're going to move the harness lines forward to center them on the draft. (Most people that is.)
I've asked the question on Duotone's site. We'll see if they answer. I've heard others saying the same thing, but I'm not sure if they are just parroting Duo or not. In another thread here a while ago, White of Heart seemed to indicate that he doesn't think it's that important.
