Has anyone checked their mast head top and front/back to see how flat they are? When I was making a mast head shim for my foil I checked the top of the mast head for flatness with a square, it had a slight crown in the middle which I removed with sandpaper. Wanted to make sure the mast head mated with the shim.
I also checked the front and rear tapers, both had a slight crown in them, is that normal?
I don't think "normal" is really a term that can be related to tuttle head design. A lot of them are a poor fit for a deep tuttle from the get go. You'd think it would all be set to standard so part A fits part B, regardless. But the number of fin heads ive had to sand....
The stand out was having to sand a lot of material off the corners of the tapers on the head of my foil, it wasn't even close to the right shape. Not what you want to have to do with a foil in particular.
Okay, thanks for the info., minor sanding for me, first DT head I looked at, was on a board with a PB before.
