Its been a brisk week to say the least (Tuesday morning was -17 degF wind chill) and Texas is not built for that kind of weather

By mid week the cabin fever had kicked in and texting of potential foiling was on for this weekend?...questions was
1. was the launch area frozen
2. What was the water temp like?
3. Don't Fall in

What is the coldest temp you have foiled in?

I cant do gloves, like trying to tie a knot with mittens

Luckily the air temp warmed up drastically and yesterday wasn't that bad, of course all that goes out the window on the first "Polar Plunge", ha!

That's some wicked cold you guys got. Hopefully you didn't any house damage from pipes freezing!

The cold isn't so bad once you get used to it. Here in Canada as long as your dressed for it and its above Freezing foiling is totally enjoyable. But no gloves in below 50F starts to get cold.
Dean what size suits are you guys in?

Coldest I foiled in is -2C with -8 windchill last year. The only problem is the ice buildup on boom and board makes for some interesting transitions in gybes.

This was back in December-still liquid water

-2 is insane Connor

Our wind wind chill one day was -17 degF (that's -27 degC)

Luckily our house is close to major hospital so they never shut down our power grid, however elsewhere not so luckily, the amount of damage all over the state caused by the burst pipes will be several Billion dollars to fix.
People literally froze to death unfortunately and we also had 100 car pile up with more lives lost :(

Couple of guys use dry suits but I can never find one that fits, so I use a 5/4 with layers of rash shirts underneath with a neoprene hood and booties. When the sun came out is was not bad but if its cloudy and you stand around it gets cold real quick, so I just stay out on the water until fatigue kicks in. Sometimes I'll drive home in the wetsuit and jump straight into a hot shower, its get a bit parky changing outside.
