Really nice.
That is one heck of a pleasure dock you have there. I liked your sail handling much better when you were on port.
Maybe try to add some foil pumping to your sail pumping (kind of like you are trying to ollie a skateboard) and I think you will fly much earlier
Really nice.

Looks like placing back foot in the middle makes leteral balance of foil more twitchy, therefore twichy sail counters, coming to port tack shore was so when wind dropped.
Lake Travis, Austin Texas
Winds 5-25 knots
Sail 4.5 Sailworks flyer
Rider 140lbs, 5'8"
Cool vid, nice camera angle ![]()

Thanks,
Ya, the wind started to fill in on port, so I could get my feet out on the rail more. I have to be real quick to get my CG in the center of the board when I punch through the wind line and have no pressure on the sail. I typically bear off and stand up straight to keep flying. Only had the camera for 2 tacks before removing because I wasn't sure the setup was going to work. Old camera and wiggly tube.
I've been working on my sail pumping skills, but board pumping i don't have a feel for yet. I understand in principle, just need more coordination/strength (never done an ollie). Typical chop wavelength is a bit shorter than the board, so getting board speed can be challenging sometimes I feel like that duck trying to take off down wind flapping like crazy??. With the right timing I can pump down the back side of a swell and get enough speed to launch. Will try to focus more on board pumping while sail pumping.

Re pumping the board. Think about trying to bounce the tail of the board like you are one foot on a trampoline. There is a natural coordination of the bounce and the sail pump that you will figure out.
WsurfAustin....nice sailing and you made the jibe! Making quick progress on your foiling adventure! I was on LBJ last weekend and it was really windy there too but was also very gusty. You were handling the gusts well. I haven't had the courage to try windfoiling on LBJ (too much boat action} but want to start wakefoiling there soon. Agreed, nice dock setup. I really like your foilboard stand on the jet ski lift....slick!
Very cool video WsurfAustin!
How did you fix the pole to your board?
Thanks
I machined a plate that mounts to the foot strap inserts. The tube was some aluminum tubing flattened on both ends to mount to the plate and camera on the other end. I was going for a view above and below the board.

Ya Lake LBJ would be tricky. Also lots of shallow spots. I dodge a lot of power boats on Lake Travis because the boat traffic direction is perpendicular to my path with dominate wind direction.

great idea!!!
maybe you can post one or two close-up pictures?
what camera do you use?

Sure.. Gopro3. The two counter bored holes align with the foot strap inserts

Awsome! Thanks a lot!
I might copy your construction WsurfAustin ... unless there a patent pending? ![]()
