Yikes!
As JJ said it great no one was hurt and how good friends could just laugh it off. That board bruise will just buff out anyway ![]()
The brother with the camera had right of way (he was on starboard). We should all know this. With a great big wide ocean out there, there is no reason why there should ever be any collisions. Or even any close calls.
Sorry for being so serious about this. I instruct, and we are always going on about safety. Those brothers were lucky.
How is the lamination around the track box on the board that tore into the other board. Luck no one was hurt.
totally agree with your comments I'm not finding any humour in this ,glad no one got hurt ,but can't believe they don't know right of way rules .
There is northing wrong with the port sailor yielding right of way by, oh, I don't know, 100 meters. No need to pass close in that great big wide ocean out there.

not gonna see much on gopro footage if you pass your mate at a distance of 100m ![]()

Then skip the GoPro. Safe is better than footage. If you must GoPro, then do it with both you and your subject on the same tack at least.
Also, if you GoPro please try to include your guages. Speed, distance, track, etc. For me at least, this makes it more interesting and informative. GoPros from the 5 Black forward have onboard GPS. Turn it on and record. Then use your software to display guages.
I only get close when following someone I know. I always wear the gopro, something unexpected is bound to happen.
Well the board is all better now......... big job, but nothing is unfixable....

Super job Mark !!
Look forward to see what Matt and Luke get up to next ![]()

Nice Work Mark! Especially matching the finish! What do you recon the laminate schedule for this board is?
it's sandwich top
Bottom is glass n biax carbon
But I think the remark was about how good the track install must be on the other board

Why no sandwhich on bottom do you think? Cost savings, weight savings, different loading?

In this load case it's understandable that repairs are required! And yeah, it might be safe to say the foil attachment is tough enough.
