Interesting new board coming out by BIC.
If historical pricing is any indication, then it will be about the cheapest foil board on the market.
Have not used one but looks similar to the Neil pryde rs:one convertible($2,000 CAD foil + board) and RS:X(bit more $). They seem a bit narrow in the tail for foil racing but narrow enough for slolam. Kinda like a compromise imo.
Where I shop this board is about $1500 with no foil.
Specs
Length: 259cm
Width: 76cm
Volume: 148L
Weight: 21lbs
There is also a smaller version.
Length: 249cm
Width: 71cm
Volume: 133L
Weight: 20lbs

Funny the one in the video says 130L x 230cm long x 81.5 wide .... certainly more modern proportions.

Ya your right I didn't notice that at first. Weird same looking board as the one at my shop but different specs. My apologies if I'm getting this board confused with a different bic techno foil/windsurf board.

The specs you quoted are for the existing Bic 133 and 148 Technos that have been around for a number of years. Both are foilable as is and have been an entry point for a lot of people because so many are laying around underused. The Techno foil is a new design - the first that Bic has done in perhaps a dozen years. There will be both an ASA (plastic skin) and carbon sandwich versions. The foil is essentially the AFS 85 - a good freeride all carbon foil . Speculation is that it will be popular in France alongside the 293OD for clubs, etc for their youth programs.
Is it just me or do the specs already seem out of date for this board? To have a blank slate for a new board and then come out with something that's 249 x 71cm and release it as a 2019 board seems a bit like they committed to the mold shape for these boards a couple years ago. I understand these are dual purpose boards, but I'd expect 20cm less off that nose and another 5 at least in width.
Thanks Paducah, that's more like it!
Back atcha, Windbot! Glad to be of assistance. ![]()
