I have a Naish 120l x 7ft 6in Crossover, plus Naish medium and XL foils.
I can kite foil and Jibe to toeside and back up on foil.
Also started SUP foiling with some success.
Now I wish to windfoil as well.
I have a 5.5 old V8 sail which is a pain to rig and get cams to rotate in light wind.
I am 76kg so beginner sail recommendations please for 10 to 15kn breeze.
Ive recently started foiling and have found my race sails a bit heavy and not that good to learn with. I am now using Simmer 2xc twin cams. Really light easy to rig and rotate so well. Really tuneable as well so have a good wind range. I am finding it easier to concentrate on keeping everything ballanced and achieving much better flight as a result. ![]()
I am doing the same as you but so far have not tried the foil for SUP. My sails are all from the 90's. I have used slalom and wave sails. All of them are camless. Some had removable cams and I preferred them out. At 10 knots I like the 5.8 and by 15 knots I prefer a 5.0. I change down in size early as I do not like being powered up to much on the large foil. I am 63 and and about 80 kg and prefer to limit the hard crashes. I started on a 60 cm. mast and now prefer a 75 cm one. I can carry on sailing most times on a breach from that height. I am also using a cross over board. Takuma 7'10". Funny but i found windfoiling much harder to learn than kite foiling. I usually do not wear a harness so am pretty tired in 1.5 to 2 hours. On the surf foil I find I have to stand up over the board and cannot hike out and hang in a harness. Hope this helps. Have fun.

I have the Naish Surf medium wing and WS1 wing which is very similar to the Surf large.
I use a Simmer 2XC 7m with the Medium wing in 10-15 knots or a 2XC 6m with the WS1 wing on flat water.
If there are waves or swells to ride (and 10-15 knots) I use a 5m wave sail.
I haven't tried the XL Surf wing but my guess is that a 5m would get you foiling easily in 10-15 knots when learning.
I suspect the big foil will feel pretty draggy once you're up to speed.
Your 5.5 V8 will be fine for the first few windfoil sessions - just kick the cams over ![]()
Big bonus of the medium wing (and the WS1) is the huge windrange - 10-25 knots ![]()
You'll want to find a sail that has a deep luff with lots of shape, cams or not with a lower profile. The racing sails were a bit tough to work with. I'm using some older Ezzy Infinity sails with cams, and a Cheetah without. Both have deep luffs that can power you between gusts and the shape works well.
I want to try out the foil specific sails, but if I didn't have those options, I'd grab Cheetahs.
Hey warwickl. I'm using a Naish hover 122. Learned in 10-15 knots with a really old 4.5m Neil Pryde combat wave. It was perfect. I found getting the board flying was not much of a problem so found that a lack of power in the sail was of benefit, so that once you're up you have more control. I'm 70kg. I've also got a North volt 5.3 that I use when it gets up to 15 knots. I wouldn't bother with a cammed sail when learning. I think it's overkill. I'd go get a cheap old beat up wave sail and use that to learn with.
