Finally got to try this combo that I have used for winging for windfoiling. Axis HPS 1050 front wing 1500cmsq, short fuselage 703mm (windsurf is 899mm), 425 progressive stab and 82cm 19mm aluminium mast from Ty at Ocean Surf Co here in Adelaide. Foil set pretty much in the middle of the tracks about 2cm further back than for winging. Mast base at the front of the very short box.
18knots, Ka 4.2 Killer sail. It was nowhere near as pitchy as I though it might be and apart from feeling a bit strange strapless compared to being fully strapped on my Slingshot wizard 105 it went well. Water starting took a slightly different technique of having to come quite perpendicular to the board (due to the base being so far back?) but it carried my 78kg + rig fine off foil. The HPS 1050 has a ridiculously low stall speed, needs to be headed off the wind but lifts quickly and smoothly. Feels quite quick and just cruises downwind on the rollers. The 82cm mast did cause the odd touch in what was a fair size windswell but the board didn't stick. Not sure about the position of the front strap inserts, maybe the outer rearmost might work. Overall pleasantly surprised. Next test light wind.

Thanks, Lao. Nice to know that foil works for wing and sail. I realize this is not the correct forum, but could you comment here on how that 1050 performs with a wing? What board do you use it with? It's on my shopping list. Thanks.

very cool, no need for a long one but much stronger than a single bolt insert
