Hi Guys,
Here is the latest about the Windfoil Nationals from the AWA, (in light of the COVID-19 environment);
"In consideration of the long term interests of fair and practical participation in the growing sport of Windfoil / Foil Windsurfing in Australia,the ongoing uncertainty/s regarding travel, access, planning and resources for both participants and event organizers have lead to the AWA, Australian Sailing and State Windfoil reps decision to defer the 2021 Australian Windfoil and iQFOIL Championships until later in 2021.
AWA remains committed to working to achieve a suitable East Coast based Australian Championship event later in 2021, with the aim of being as inclusive as possible of all State participants, as well as maximizing the potential of International attendance from (at least) New Zealand and New Caledonian competitors, should COVID restrictions allow.
Potential venues include RQYS and Lake Macquarie, with tentative dates around September/October 2021 being considered.
Foil Slalom would be trialed inside the 2021 event as a potential inclusion in future National Championships.
Planning continues for the 2022 Australian Windfoil and iQFOIL Championships at South of Perth Yacht Club, January 2022.
A State of Origin Windfoil and iQFOIL event is planned at RQYS for 29-31 January, 2021."
Cheers,
Glen (WNSW Foiling Representative)
How does South of Perth yacht club, that doesn't have at this stage a Windfoil class or any racing of same get the nod over a club that does? Mounts Bay Sailing Club? Which is hosting the Windsurfer LT class worlds around the same time?

MBSC also as Australian Sailing WA Club of the Year for 2020 is eminently qualified to execute the National Windfoil Class Championships for 2022. Why was it passed over ?
Interesting question, i'm guessing your windsurfing WA rep may know?^^ I watched the moth worlds stream from Mounts Bay, what a spot ![]()

I don't believe there was much local input. Decisions were probably made by AWA

Will the officers of AWA please identify themselves and please advise people like me who are longstanding paid up members of AWA (via WWA, WCAA etc) of the basis for and reasons for their decision ? This is a good place to publish those reasons and why MBSC was not approached.

Perhaps DJ had some input? I know Tims son does dinghy racing. I forget at which club he's based though.
