Like the Blast, both are nice boards but not optimal for foiling. I think the new StingRay that was released yesterday looks interesting with full deck pad. Only issue with the LTD is size up to 130liter. HRS is 140. That is a good free ride foil board.

I've foiled on one - it was fun but certainly not optimized for foil. I had an i84 under it, and a Flyer 7.0 on top, basically all the way back in the track. For me at 100kg it rode pretty balanced with my feet between the straps and kinda standing on top of the middle of the board rather than hiking out. The scoop made touchdowns smooth (smoother than on the Blast) and the soft rails helped also. Easy to pump up, easy to tack - I didn't try to fly a jibe because it was a borrowed board and I didn't want to risk dinging it up.

Hi Sandman,

the gecko is a great board if you want a Freeride-Board with foil option. Just keep in mind, that the Tuttle-box is a bit further at the back. No problem if you are lighter and like more Backfoot-preasure. If you are 80/85kg and above, you should get a foil with a longer fuselage in front of the mast. With Slingshot you can easily mount your foil in the C position, which is what I did.

If you are more into foiling than into fin-surfing, I would recommend a board like the Goya Airport pro or the Fanatic Stingray. Others than ZeroVix I would personally opt for the new Ltd-Version, as I like my foil boards as short as possible. Makes tacking a bit challenging in the beginning, but I like a fast reacting board with low swing-weight. I use the Airport 120 which is easy to uphaul a 7m2 Ezzy Cheetah with my 98kg plus winter wetsuit.

David

A friend & I were both sold Fanatic Ghekko's as a foil learning boards. Ok until you drop off the foil & you scurry to stand next to the mast before the back of the board sinks from the weight of the foil. nowhere near enough buoyancy at the back of the board.

Used this for first two seasons foiling with the Fanatic H9 then the AFS W95. Very easy for relaxed cruising and pops up on the foil nice and easy.

Doesn't have the width in the tail to get the really nice comfortable driving stance with bigger sails or upwind. Also the extra tail width of dedicated foil boards is certainly easier for gybing.

I got it at the time when starting to foil to have the option of putting a f?n in from time to time but never did in the two years I had it!

I live in Miami Beach and I've been sitting everywhere for a few years now. Work, beach, groceries... I do everything in a board. I got a board for my girlfriend as a birthday present. We're both long time boarders. It looks, amazing feels, and all around is an fantastic board. She's had it since August and it's now December and it's still holding up perfectly.
