Anybody got any recommendations? I'm riding K2.1's at the moment but fancy trying something different.

Board is a 6'2 x 21 round tail, and I'm around 76kgs.

Currently using Scarfini HX3 Quads in my 5'11.
I weigh the same as you.
I like them. Havent tried another set of quads in that board though. Only ran it as a thruster momentarily.

I'm going thru the same process First up glass flex M7's..to far forward,(using finz syatem) then Simon Large glass too far back.. Back to m7's now coupla cms forward & I've got my MR tfx twinnies in my hand trying to figure where to put 'em. From what I've read it can take a while to get a quad fin setup dialed just right, but its fun trying. Have a look over on realsurf-shortboards only-quad/thruster ride report helpes to shed some light also www.mckeesurf.com/?page_id=267.

M5 or M7 template in performance core should do the trick.

Started with m7s and m3 rears-first quad.....was great
then pc7 with Hx rears. Not bad
indoFins version of K2.1s with the small rears....pretty good
then magic happened with a set of power base armor DXL (m7) combined with Dm (m4) in bigger powerful indo waves
but my best all round set definitely Stretch SF4s....good in what I normally surf, beachies and reefs up to head high

also have a set of V2s which are waiting to be tested!!!

second the mckee site...has some good info

my sled is a 6'2 x 20 epoxy roundish tail I weigh 90kgs

The magic combo for me is G-Am fronts with GX-Q trailers in my shorty - 6'1 x 20 1/2 round tail and grovellor - 6'0 x 21 round tail.
For my step up mayhem GMB5's - 6'5 x 20 1/4. I'm 90kg
When it's a bit bigger I use a Darc drive trailer in the thruster slot on the shorty.

For the wider tail I have found my perfect mix by accident. Am2 fronts and the asher pacey set in the rear. The full asher pacey was too pivoty for me. This set up.seem.to go mean.

I have been using these the last few months - very happy with them. They are not what you would call a rocket ship fin - just nice and reliable - never let you down. A nice all rounder - ridden them from 2 to 6 ft plus and they hold in nicely - you can really put a lot into your turns and they just hold and respond beautifully. I use them in a wide tailed board (Potatonator) - for me wide tails = big fins narrow tail = small fins.

I was just about to recommend the same fin Ted. I've mucked around a little with a few different setups and have found these to be the most reliable all-round. I've also used the rusty quads in bigger stuff but I tend just to go for a thruster if it's over 6 foot nowadays (unless it's super hollow.) I'm 83kg and use them in a HP short board for anyone who is interested.

Fins are getting so bloody confusing. I think they could almost introduce it as subject in high school

Have any of you guys tried the MR tfx's in front? if so what did you use in the rears. I was thinking that as the MR'S are a big fin something like an M5 in th rear. I'm 100kg & the board is a Grant Miller subx 7" with a wide tail.

GXQ's with the MR's.
Too loose go up a touch in size.
This would be a sub 3' combo btw.

Stretch PC or Kinetic Parko Quads have worked best for me...

Simon Anderson quads are the best. Best foil on them and as a heavier fella they allow as much back foot as ya got. I got a set of controllers too which are pretty good

80kgs.

PC3 front and rear.

You can go surprisingly small, you will ditch the drag lf the big fins and not lose much drive .

I am riding a 6'4" home made quad with a bit of extra volume that's subtly hidden in a shortboard profile - definitely not fish shape or anything. I run M7 fronts and 'side bites' - those tiny little long boarding side fins - in the rear to loosen it up a bit and it goes a treat. I still get plenty of drive out of turns, it bites well into steep waves and the board turns on a dime. I've used this same fin setup on a large fish shaped quad too and it seemed to work just as well. I know quads are notoriously sensitive and all boards will be different, but for the relatively low cost to purchase a pair of the side bites, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.

Not quads but didn't see the need to start another thread. I just ordered a Set of Jordy Futures in Medium last night on EBAY (Local supplier) for $100 delivered that i thought was good

Just looking at some stretch fins also on Gumtree that are very reasonably priced
