Gday everyone,

Heading to Noosa with the family in May for just over a week, is there much surf round there at that time of the year? Or is it too small to shortboard and best to take my sup?

Cheers in advance.

april/may anzac day in particular has had glorious conditions for the past couple of years in SEQ not much wind and little pulses of swell. hope the trend continues for you - though you might not get enough swell for noosa to be any good you will probably score A-bay or sunshine.

There is an awesome video online atm showing Noosa at 3 foot. 25 people on waves, boards getting flung, people getting washed off rocks. Have fun.

A little secret I'll share - bypass Noosa points and head to the back beach (sunshine beach). Hardly any crew and picks up way more swell then the over 45s convention at the points. Surfed it in May about 5 years ago and it was absolutely smokin - will try and dig out a pic of it to post.

Goodvibes took the words out of my mouth. Stay also surf on the otherside of the point around Sunshine Beach etc.
Here is a comparison. Points are 2ft 100 guys out on mals. Beaches are 4ft 15 guys out. I know where I'd go.
Have a mate who has lived at Noosa for 20 odd years, has only surfed the points a handful of times. Back beaches all the time.
Also check out the river mouth. Does get good beach breaks....

Noosa is a nice place to go and explore even when the points are flat

The photos are Sunshine/A Bay, not Noosa, and good luck getting a park anywhere,

There is that many people sitting in the line up at Noosa that if you do get a wave, you can't surf the wall because of all the sitters in the way.
Then there's the dropping in problem.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are in for a frustrating time.

Better off looking south, Alex, Marcoola, Warana,
