Hey All,

I am looking around for some Mini Simmons shapers to check out.

I like the looks of Tyler Warren's Bar Of Soap, I've seen Rake Surfboards do a cool looking one, as well Thomas Bexon and WAXA.

Any others you'd recommend.
Thanks!!

The More's are very resonably priced for someone wanting to try the design.
I'd order one without the all the bells and whistles regardless of who makes it, for your first one.
You can order one with resin tints and it'll push the price up but it's more for asthetics.
DaBomb surfshop (on-line) at Maroochydore have some in stock (they have my fingerprints on them) and both the owners have ridden them extensively so can guide you into the right dimensions which is important because they are about as far away from a hpsb as you can get.
My first Mini-Simmons was a Valium model by DMS.
First wave on it was an eye opener.

First wave was a sucky 3'er and it was so easy to surf backhand (esp compared to a twin keel fish) with eye watering speed and good control.
Skateboard with loose trucks, slippery bar of soap = twin keel mini-simmons.
Not to everyone's taste but those who like them, love them.
That's ok because they are a bit of a surfing contradiction when measured against a hpsb.

They are that.
Just meant for the first one to test the waters could forgo them, in case he hates the design, to keep the amount of $'s invested a bit lower.
The re-sale on mini-simmons seems to have slowed and the new price on a bells and whistles mini can be hefty compared to a hpsb.

Cuttlefish - how do you compare the MS to your BP? Is there really room in a quiver for the both?

Im in Bondi- but Im also back home on the Sunshine Coast quite a bit.

I am mainly looking for a little rocket to make the most of Bondi.

Cheers Cuttlefish- yeah never ridden one before, but I have been riding fishes, also considering it'll probably end up with a fin chop first surf here...

They are a different ride.
The BP has more shortboard DNA in it.
Put the right fins in it and it it will go top to bottom really well on average waves.
Fast as **** in any slightly hollower waves.
The MS I had was a DMS and it would still go vertical and beyond (which his fish do as well) but other mini's I've ridden liked to be surfed a lot flatter.
Take offs on suckier waves can be a challenge on the low rockered, wide nosed simmons.
Enough difference in the feel to have both in the quiver if you lived near a pointbreak.
If you were surfing beachies exclusively I'd rather have a BP or SP and potatonator for the small stuff.

im no expert but heres my 2 cents
ive had quite a few different mini simmons, yahoo 3x kelvinator,rake(2 x paddlepop ,foam glide ,trash can) DMS valium,BING 2x pucks,5x speed squares and hydrodynamica mini simmons
Kelvinator good all round quad
Rake, liked the jordan nobel (paddle pop ,foam glide)shaped ones they seem to have more volume ,less refined, stronger glassed
DMS great traditional simmons, cool moon shaped fins, great all round board
Hydrodynamica The traditional planning hull ,slow on take off but seems to pick up everything you paddle for, epoxy, rolled hulled bottom thru out board
BING speed square i liked the best by far, the quickest ,liveliest and best fun but less forgiving.4'6 being preferred length,no tail rocker, deep concave in tail running through to your front foot
