I just scored a nice proto dolphin fin you can try. It went really nice today. Also used the 9" bender from shapers which I really liked in the big close outs that I was catching today.

If you are not happy with it as a 2 + 1 why not just ride it as a more conventional thruster and see how she goes? A relatively narrow tail shape so one would think that you would not need a massive set of them.

Just as an offshoot LL - this really should have gone in your fins thread

yeah could have ted.

i did try it as a thruster - ok- nothing special. im a bit stuck on centre fin options because of the fin box not wanting to by a small centre box fin

waves today were crowded, off shore strong and a dropping swell.

altered the fin back a touch and got the long speed pump turns i was looking for on a half decent waves.

very tom currensque if i do say so myself

plenty of good reasons why i don't listen to you mac - too numerous to post in here

I just had a Surfing Footage Thought... Whilst zoning out, looking at this fin!....

Imagine a tiny "pod video camera", shooting backwards, but placed under the board, taking footage of the fin... Plus another camera fixed to the deck of the board, also pointing backwards... Then doing "Split Screen" Play-Backs! Footage of 'the pocket of the wave', plus footage from 'underwater'... Trippy man!! And I haven't smoked anything in ages!

I do not think so Simondo. From memory Piros posted a vid in the 666 room once when he was first getting into those JP boards showing different fin combinations from underneath. Now I might also have been smoking but I am pretty sure. i remember being amazed at the footage. Maybe LL can remember

Ted I might just see what shapers can do in a set in say size 5. Hope they can match a centre box fin for that.

Still I think the black apach 8.25 could do the job. It seemed the bigger and better the wave the better it went which is cool.

See how it goes in 6 ft Kirra barrel haha

Bloody hell spell correct was going to say a korea barrel

Thats not good bro....I did my time through a group apprenticship scheme where you were employed by a company as an apprentice and then they hired you out to other compaines as needed...seemed to work quite well....still had to do a alot of sweeping...

Nice board by the way!!

It looks like you have not used that square since your apprenticeship days anyway I Agree with Tux - time you swept out the shed.

Pup, FFS didnt we speak about this?

it's on a dirty old bucket in a filthy garage. Next to a oil covered piece of newspaper..

Is there enough beer in Qld to pay the fine?

I'd prefer the park BBQ with the fat neighbour in the back ground.

I read the other day Short stubby fins at the back for pivot, bigger rakeier fins further up in the box for carvier drawn out turns. And start with 1 inch per foot of board.

Depends what you want.

And I've seen a few places that say 8.5inches from the tail to the rear trailing edge is a good starting point for fins.

On my 7'4 single egg I use a 7.5 with a fair bit of flex, bout an inch from the back of the box. Or a 10" pushed right up in the box when it gets bigger.

And don't worry bout the shed, a dirty shed means you've spent plenty of time testing fins

Now get ready to pay the fine.... Pup?.

I.went against a few people, sdr being one. I'm listening to.a shredder who only rides singles.

So I had a 8" dolphin in closeouts....no.report...it did hold and I'm still here I guess.

Put a 9" shapers bender in big straddie. Half way in the box. No time to turn, just take a steep drop and either have glory or death....fin went great, rider was scared and average

Old mate wants me to try a super upright flexy fin 10" and says I will love it.... His opinion is that I like big drive fins being a fat ****,so.will let you no after tomorrow's coast /tos run....

sp one " per ft of board is a good rule for singles.

ofefrs good chrispy but where are they

pretty happy with this setup. the only itch to scratch is some tiny side bites with it.

i promise to clean the garage up before chrissy
