Hi all.
I'm looking for any advice on getting myself back to fitness after rupturing my left bicep recently.
I somehow tore it off the bone picking up my board at the surfs edge after putting on my legrope.
Has anyone done the same injury and if so how long did it take you to get back surfing again? I'm 2 weeks post surgery and 18 days post injury now.
Cheers.

Hi Jeff, that would have hurt, you did well get it operated on 8 days after the injury. I found this article.

Yeah it wasn't easy finding a surgeon, I spent all day ringing arm specialists after I got my scan results back and knew I needed surgery. You only have a very short window with this injury to get it repaired before it becomes unviable to operate.
I got very lucky thanks to the receptionist of my surgeon getting me in to a cancellation that afternoon I rang.
I'm aware of what the specialists have all told me time wise and they say a minimum of 4 months but I was hoping to hear from someone who surfs how long it took them to be back in the water really.

I'm now 6 and a half weeks post surgery and feeling great. I'm about 5 weeks away from final clearance and being able to surf.
I've been pushing myself with the rehab and I'm now doing weight bearing exercise to strengthen the bicep.
Pretty much pain free now as well which is fantastic as the first few weeks were really difficult.
