These types of boards seem to be popular in the US right now obviously Skip Frye doing them for a long time and Josh Hall making quite a few among others.
Obviously they come in any fin configuration but what are peoples thoughts on them and if you have surfed them what did you think?

I think you'll find they are two different types of boards, the one mcH has posted is popular in the longer length the hipsters love them ,draw a line and carve, if thats your game go for it but imo they are very very limited. Lacey Id say yours will be shorter and just as wide, like the good old twin fin MR ?

no it will be a longer version of the 6.1 nomad I have. he done a fair few of them . the latest being for some burleigh crew.

its still a longer fish and is relevant to the topic. just not as long as the pretty pics in here.

its all about options

McH, damn you for this post. Lol.

You know I have much info but no time to get into detail on these boards.

I've had the Vouch as a 9'6 Twin Keel which was slippery and fun in small surf, not a bigger wave board with the Twin Keel set up IMHO, but as a single fin it's a damn beauty in any conditions. A board in my quiver I'd not sell.

I took another crack at the Twin Keel a year on in a 10' and still disliked it

I've ridden Josh Hall's own 9'6 Long Fish and his key is deep double 'caves with a small centre fin (5-6) with the timber side bites. Was a beautiful ride, loose, fast and super speed down the line.

The Vouch is very different to the JH on the underside; the Vouch is a flat / hull whereby the JH has deep double 'caves (see pics below).

Having the 9'6 Vouch (single) and an 11'8 JH, they both rock but are like driving two different machines.

Didn't know you still had the single Vish. Thought you had sold it. I must admit, I love the look of these boards and think one in 9.0 would be so much fun.

Don't see many Australian shapers doing this type of board.

I like the idea but no fully sold...fin placement and orientation would need to be super precise or you will the end up with a a real squirelly loose log or a a board that tracks and is hard to turn

That was my concern with a longer fish design. Even at 6.6 i wasnt going to buy a ready made one anywhere thats for sure . But i believe sdr will have it worked out. My 6.1 nomad . Getting 6.6 version of it

The twin keel I had was 6'5. It was great of the bottom and flew down the line but didn't like changing direction. It had keels with a really long base though and a pretty straight outline.

A quad with spit keels would be interesting.

Nice looking board LL.
