So I've had this for afew months now and ridden it in a variety of waves.
Most recently on the south coast of nsw in some pretty awesome right point waves.
i have ridden many different boards and shaped plenty of my own boards.
I love Surfboards and like to try boards from different shapers and different styles of boards...it keeps me stoked and also keeps my surfing and shaping fresh.
Having said that I have always been sceptical of the claims that the ITP is a true one board quiver.
i recently ordered a 9,6 and have been putting it to the test.
This board truly is amazing!
It pretty much does all they claim on the packet.
It grovels in little ones, has a heap of glide on flat sections...especially sweet trim zone when u move about two thirds up the board and it nose rides unreal in the pocket, although can take off abit fast out onto the face, but hey it's no true log!
So what truly sold me was the recent session I had in some epic right handers at a reef on the south coast.
the board came alive and has I think achieved the holy grail of being "fast and loose"
The most impressive feature was the springy drive and projection I got from the board coming off the bottom after a cutback or top turn...the thing kinda slingshotted. This is something I haven't felt in a 9,6 before. Granted the waves were pumping but the board was certainly up to it.
i was the only longboarder in the line up and after getting some weird looks when I first jumped of the rocks the crew were I think kinda surprised. Two guys even paddled over and asked about the board.
anyway as much as I hate to say it because I love having lots of Surfboards...this ITP and a True Log would be really all you need!
make sure you check them out if you are keen on a new all rounder!

Nice to have a board that looks good and surfs too
.
I wonder about longboards with 5 one inch stringers how they actually surf.
Too much form over function sometimes
Good ride report. Thanks for posting.
Have you tried it with just a single fin?
No not yet...
i did however snap one of the side bites out yesterday, so may put a single in and check it out while I am sorting out a new set of side bites!.
i also think it would be awesome as a Thruster set up....will be interesting to see.

Then go a nice one inch stringer and get the best of both ... a nice dark wood contrasting one ... my over length load 4x4 driving mate ![]()

A double gang stringer is good I've been told, right amount of flex.
Mac aha what's you're opinion as you have knowledge of every longboard made ![]()

I know nothing oldmal only passing on what I've heard
I do own two double gang stringer boards but its been too long since I've surfed them to remember.

Oh that's not good news remember Macaha the boards are meant to be ridden not looked at hope you tune into you're boards soon
Do you really think flex is going to make a huge difference to the average surfer riding a 9'6 mal I think not. I'd assume planshape thickness and bottom curves would be the main criteria for a good board. The Takayama Itp looks from the pics to have a really pulled in tail for the last third so it's going to go rail to rail quicker than than a fuller outline and it's still got some area midway and up to the nose. I'd love one![]()
Thats a very nice looking ITP & your ride report has me keen to try one. I just missed buying one a few weeks back that was going for a bargain. And a beautiful Boyd Purdy...I did end up with what I consider to be a collectors item tolhurst tuflight I'm stoked with...but the ITP is high on the "To do " list for sure ![]()
This is hard for me to read because it reminds me of how stupid I was to get rid of my ITP
slow connection but it was with repeating anyway
I've ridden the old surftech model that was 9'3 I think. Nice board but very light. The heavier glass version would surf much better. very nice board you have there Glide 77. Whereabouts down the South Coast did you ride it ?
Yep it goes good...I think it's a combination of lots of things including quite a unique tucked rail, which I don't see on a lot of longboards and is kinda hard to get right. Fin placement, rocker and plan shape all just work togeather and yes the glass version is a different feel totally to the epoxy.
one thing is you hardly ever see them 2nd hand, I looked for 6 months before ordering new.
smh..in The Ulladulla area..abit south maybe.

Good area that. Surfed a fair bit around there over the years.

I ordered one Saturday and dropped into the factory yesterday, they have a sightly weird outline.
8 inch cetre was recommended by they at the factory, what are you running?

Old mal is someone I know second user name
Indian is Asea of the booze
Weird as in the width between the wide nose and tail, wide in the front 2/3

Yes the Plan shape is unique!...even paddling on it you move abit forward than normal.
whatever it is it just works in the water!
Yes I have the 8 inch fin...pushed about 3/4 the way back in the box.

It's a performance noserider, wide nose for easy noseriding and a pulled in tail for easy turning. They are based of the NR 2 model but just modernised, that's why they were a popular comp board. They are easy to NR and easy to turn..
Common late 90s early 2000s design. A lot of the Stewart boards from that time had the same design feature as well as a lot of others before they either went full HP or full noserider / log style.
The are kinda the best of both world design, they don't do either brilliantly but are good all rounders.
Thanks SP they do apear to have the best of both worlds nose and tail both look like they would do both well, I must say I like the tail lift. Glide yes that's the same fin set I was given when I ordered the board.

Put some extra wax on that nose champion,we all know how much you love hanging on that end of the board.
Stoked for ya,awesome board and should be awesome fun under your feet ![]()
