Hola compadres!
Been lurking this forum for months and decided that tonight, with a (nearly?) full moon, is a good night for my coming out: I am a longboarder. With that out of the way, anybody any experiences with boards by Nicolas Leon (condor longboards) located in qld. Had a squiz on his Insta and fb and love his shapes (pretty traditional from the looks of it), but couldn't find any reviews, news, stories on this dude and the quality of his boards.
Admin: apologies if I posted this in the wrong thread
Cheers thedrip! Best part about sea breeze is that you need to 'log' in... Maybe it's time for me to lay off the sauce a little...
Hello and welcome.
No idea about your question. Just being friendly. Hope you stick around.
Same same
Welcome Iggy to the Greenroom.
I too have never heard of them - but from the look of his website he makes some super nice looking sticks. His attitude seems pretty refreshing as well
For a surfer there are just a few things more satisfying than working on his/her own board. If your keen enough, come over and shape at my shed on the Sunshine Coast or if you have your blank ready to be glassed bring it to me and get your hands dirty with resin. Ill help through every step till it’s done. Every surfer should at least make one board to know what’s behind them and value what they ride.
Thanks tux, macaha & ted. Always interested in trying something new. Currently have an 9.2 itp & 6.6 takayama scorpion for the bigger days. So figured I would try a more traditional log (piggish, 50/50, square tail, hatchet fin) for the knee high days. From the looks condor seems to know what he's doing. Any info is welcome![]()
Is sauce, is good
I think hatchets are under rated. They look like they will be really stiff to ride, but can actually turn pretty good & they certainly do have hold if you can nose ride...which I can't
But yeah, I like 'em
@mickpc you're on the money. Takes a bit of of technique to turn, but geeeezz they hold so nicely in more hollow waves![]()
@mchenry: that 60's pig looks sweet!!! Thanks for the info :)
Pieter for a pig. He's the man!
Yeah, great shaper.
All his boards are works of art...
He has a great website with live feeds and good videos
Excellent Ding fixing as well, will match the original tint..
I think Condor is a newerish shaper. I think Jasdeking knows of him as they are up in the same area.
Call Pieter to talk to him about pigs. Nicest guy and prefers talking over the phone to emails!
Hey crew,
I just got a board shaped by nico (condor longboards) and can highly recommend him!
After a few emails up and down, I went over to his shaping shed. We talked design, surf style, spots and based on that we picked a blank he started working the magic. His loose style of working is deceiving as he damn well knows what he's doing. His eye for detail is insane.
But wait there's more; he glasses as well and again has done a cracker job. Sure there some minor things, but that is all part of a hand shaped board. Did I mention he also makes his own fins?
I had a great day of shaping fun, Crosbie, Stills & Nash playing. If only I brought a bit of herb :)
If you're interested in getting an affordable, we'll build, hand shaped surf craft; have a chat to him. Great guy.
