Hi there. ...Russ here from Brooklyn. NY by way of NZ.
I recently bought a used Bob Mctavish board to add to my collection.... after doing a little research seems now like it is not shaped in Aus as it is tuflite. Epoxy. not really too worried as thought it was when i saw it.
The board is around 9'5 1/2 " long ....slight flat tail long and i cannot seem to find any online that look like it. Also has little in the way of marking on the board which also leads me to believe it is some sort of pop-out?
Just was curious more than anything to know any approx year of manufacture or model name etc.
will be trying it out very soon.
any help appreciated....see pics.

Not 80s. It's a tufflite. Tufflites from memory started in about 1995 ish.

I'd guess late 90s or early 2000s.

Cheers mate I originally posted early 90's but had a rethink just based on the logos.

That link doesn't go through to a Mct.

Long time ago but from memory in the early days I think they did the Original. Razor and maybe one other? The trimmer maybe?

Yours doesn't look HP enough for the Razor so I'd guess it is either of the others but could be something else.

What was the Noserider model called ?

Don't think it is a trimmer, the Pu ones had a weird channel In the nose if I remember correctly.

Pig

Nothing wrong with a pig, from my reading.

History of surfing stuff - I find it fascinating.

In 1954, Velzy closed the Malibu operation and opened a shop in Venice-closer to the customer base-with new partner and fellow South Bay boardmaker Dudley "Hap" Jacobs. Velzy had been making Quigg-style chip boards for nearly five years, and one afternoon, weary at the thought of another, he instead shaped a board with a narrow nose, continuous rail curve, a lowered wide point, and a round tail. It was a funny-looking board, kind of homely, with its bulbous rear end-"a real pig," Velzy thought, smiling. That's what he called it, and the Velzy pig turned out to be a game-changer. Lighter versions weighed just over 20 pounds, and the reduced nose area allowed the board to spear through the water with fewer catches and snags and to come around a beat or two faster during turns. To keep the wide tail anchored into the wave face, the pig had an oversized stabilizing fin, about the size and shape of a croquet wicket, but raked back so that the trailing edge actually stuck out past the board's rear end.

Maybe that helps, maybe it doesn't

from what i saw there was a 'Ray Gleave' model at 9'5 but i thought this was a tri-fin setup.
Also kinda looks like the noosa 66 model but not sure whether this was made with the tuflite
Also included the pics of that board in the link i posted earlier that didnt link. of the McT Classic Californian 9"6 which looks very similar to mine.

I'm pretty sure it was called the Classic. The Original was the pick out of all of them.

I'll go with that.. I was thinking before, If only it was a Tak, Smh would be all over it.

There was also the one that I think later became the gleave. The stylemaster or something, not sure if that was done as a tufflite. Terrible memory, I was young then and would like to say my body was a temple but it was more like one of those churches that got rented out for parties on the wknd..
