Had a unique experience yesterday riding waves when its foggy with 100m visibility
Asked a dude who had just come in and all good - get out there.

Can't see the unbroken waves from beach and when your in the water you can't see beach from line up.
Great that the water surface is glassy with no wind but hard to read waves until take off.
Initially slower wave count as your looking for sets and then get more confident and get more waves.

When out with mates son, 20 year old short boarder used my 8'4" mini mal and loved how easy to catch waves.
Another convert to mid length

Had a session like that this time last year. Couldn't see a bloody thing. Went in and couldn't find the car park. Ended up walking about 100m the wrong way before finding my way back. There wasn't a sole in sight either which made it pretty eerie.

Took this photo from the car park after it had started to clear.

Stirred up a nice memory from a few years ago surfing with my son. Was a bit spooky but a great session we had to ourselves.
The break is about 150 metres out and you couldn't see the shore. Made it interesting when you rely on landmarks to work out your take off position.

Good to see the "pea soup " photos. As you say I like some reference points on land as well.
Still good fun and kept crowds down
