So after a surf this morning I sit down for some breaky with the "brains trust" who proceed to tell me I need to sell my 10' Whalebone as it's not "forcing me to extend myself and my surfing..............."

This is my usual go to board, paddling and riding it just feels like putting on your favourite slippers or boat shoes or whatever your favourites are.

It paddles unbelievable, catches waves easily, is stable, manoeuvrable and as fast as I need. It's probably not ideal for a hollow fast beach break but I rarely surf them anyway.

So do I listen to these "experts" or just keep enjoying myself?

Keep enjoying it mate...you have other boards that you can use on the days that you want to get into it a bit more
That's the idea of having a few in the quiver.....

Keep it and get that 11 footer you want too. It will feel as comfy as wearing brand new ugg boots and your wife's silk undies while listening to Barry White when you fly across the waves past those chopping, changing, sh!t-advice-giving board-whore mates of yours.

I believe the founder of the brains trust is merely coaching you to greater things my friend.
Its true what your saying about your Whalebone, however it is true what the founder is stating.
You love that board,we all know its your go to board and you feel very comfortable on it.I could
be wrong hard to believe but he may be talking the next level.

My advice is firm as mentioned this morning, two boards make the trip, your Hotlog and the 207.
The 207 will produce the goods, its a matter of surfing each board and giving them a real good
run before switching and only then you and you alone can make the call.

You want a easy paddle = Hotlog Goddard Whalebone
You want to progress your turns = 207

Wall mount the Whalebone and give the others a go,you can always go back to the Whalebone but
as I have also mentioned the Whalebone has taken you to the next level do you think its time to go
another levelRemember your lighter and a much better surfer than you were when you started riding
your Whalebone, time to move on me thinks so,the Goddard is a step in that direction,oh boards boards
and boards.

Yep. If its fun keep it. Maybe get a completely different sort of board. Those old faithfuls are great. Reliable and trusted.

Get a HP start working on your helicopters.

Or start sizing down for some real performance surfing.

Or a HP shortboard. Vertical reos anyone?

If the Brains Trust is anything like the gathering at the Table of knowledge at my local- DO NOT LISTEN- I REPEAT- DO NOT LISTEN ,They're messing with your head,You're probably surfing better than them anyway.

Vanders, keep using the big trusty option, and enjoy!... But, also have a few surfs on the other board option, to mix it up a bit...
