Wondering what size leg ropes people are using for medium sized surf say 3-4ft. I'm currently using 8 ft but it still seems a bit long? After hit by wave seams a lot of length to pull board back sometimes creating animosity with the short boarders.
How do use guys go ducking under waves with the bigger board?
Does any one use the coil leashes they go quite long now or do they lack in strength? create more or less drag ?
get tangled easier.
What size board? I've been using a 9' Balin Stormrider (10mm) all the time on both my 12' barge and my 9'10. It's not overly stretchy and it's got a bit of pull (but it lets me know where my board is). Boards are too big to try and duck dive (mine are, anyway) if I can't paddle over some white water I'll roll off, grab the velcro strap at the board end, hang on like buggery and put up with a few minutes' discomfort riding it out.
Using the Creatures of Leisure 10 foot SUP leash (formerly marketed as the 10 foot outer reef)
But prefer the 12 foot version myself....has more stretch
....what size 3 to 4 foot wave are we talking about? ![]()
your tactics have to vary as to whether or not other surfers are inside of you of course
stretch is very good if no one else being endangered
I really hated my coil leash - especially in bigger surf. Takes forever to pull the board back to you after a wipeout due to all those coils, and that sucks.
I think my new ones a 10 foot balin, seems to do the job orright
