Just received an email this morning that the West Pod VIC cut ties with SUP Vic.
why can't we run like a federal & state government?
where to for me?
who's in as I'm thinking of forming an independent sup group but not sure what to name it![]()

I think the West pod already has a new FB page? Either way you can still paddle with any group you don't have to be a member of one in particular.

Is that the SUP VIC Melbourne West Pod or the SUP Melbourne West Club or the Geelong and Surf Coast Paddle Crew?
I think I would like to join a SUP club. I'm in Ocean Grove. What club is the closest to me? Or do I need to start a new club?
wow! 3 sup clubs in Vic. !!??? Your State titles must be a HUGE event!![]()
Getting bigger each year

The Geelong and Surf Coast Paddle Crew are more of an informal group around Torquay but you should connect with them to find out what they are up to. The SUP Melbourne club is literally just getting started but may well cater to the Surf Coast. SUP VIC doesn't have a great deal of presence on that side of the West Gate Bridge these days.
This can only be good for Sup in Vic.....only hope that they do more than just social paddles and that they start putting events that attract people from outside the "western bubble" like real surf competitions on the West Coast for the Sup surfers here in Victoria.
Sup Vic have done some mighty events down that way over the years, so this new club should now do the same.
Sup surfing on the west coast and in Victoria needs this to happen.
Time will tell, hopefully we can see them committed to running a surf comp or two next year...
I'm sure the events will be successfully run and well supported by all sup surfers.
By the way when's the surf comp fella's?
Bass SUP used to do some really good events down that way too so there's clearly an appetite for SUP competition on the surf coast.
In fact, just watching the PPG race this morning, I wondered why there has never been a decent surf race event held in Victoria. Ideal spot would be down around Ocean Grove somewhere.

We have had great surf races both on the west coast and east coast, you just need to keep an eye out for them. The Vic Titles have had some epic races.
As far as surf comps go, a group of us took on the job of running the surf comps when Bass Sup folded. Our aim was to run them on all coast and in all swells. This worked a treat for everyone, so as MJ said, bring on more comps on the west coast. About time more people stepped up to help out. Unless of course the new club is just crew from one area.

There is the State titles run by Surfing Vic, and there have been others...worth noting though that clubs in Vic are all volunteer-run, nobody can do everything.
Maybe get on board with a club and help organise one?? ![]()
ONE ONE ONE ONE the only good board brand is ONE... SUP Melbourne = ONE
No other boards are any good... trust me I'm an expert
I'm reading sarcasm and Sinicism here, can you clarify exactly what you're getting at, I mean I know I only surf but I don't see any ONE sup boards. And what does a brand have to do with a club?

SUP Melbourne was recently formed by a small but diverse group of paddlers based in the West of Melbourne. The club was formed primarily to increase participation of the sport, particularly juniors and the social paddler as it was identified that there was an opportunity in that region to do so that classically wasn't covered by SUP Vic. SUP Melbourne was kindly offered the old West Pod page by SUP Vic and rather than cut ties, the two clubs will continue to work together closely into the future for one common goal, bring SUP to the people and continue to grow the sport. There may be surf comps and races organised by SUP Melbourne including the Surf Coast as we we deem that region to form part of its membership, but more commonly we will host family friendly, inclusive social paddles and experience events. As a club run by its members for its members, should enough of the financial membership wish to request certain events, SUP Melbourne will be only too happy to listen.
SUP Melbourne very much looks forward to welcoming anyone into the fold as a member or sponsor.
Thanks guys, paddle safe.
