Hi all, was wondering if anyone has had experience with EVA deck grip that has a self adhesive type of tape fitted?they use it on boat decks etc. would like to know if it hangs on in the long run.
any advise appreciated.
If it is a pad with 3m adhesive backing, it will stick no worries (better get positioning right first time) and won't lift
I've stuck a couple down then had to lift sections and they don't want to come off.
I guess it depends on the quality of the glue, but it should. I was using them on my prone shortboards (thin, 2mm) with no issue.
As for all pads:
- cut the outer edges at angle (45 degrees), it will avoid catching them with your body and unglue them
- clean perfectly the board surface before (e.g: solvent F, then alcohol). Never use acetone.
- be sure that the board surface is at least at 20C. Heat it in winter if needed.
- apply a lot of pressure, especially on the edge: use a hard cylinder: bottle, rolling pin, ..
- let it cure at least 12 hours before use.
