OK, please go gently here as Iam potentially exposing myself to a lot of ridicule ... Planning on taking my 9'1 creek to Bali soon. Flying with qantas and their size limit is 9'1.. by the time I add a bag and protection i think my 'package' will be about 9'2+. potential issues...
So it got me thinking what if the board lost 2-3" off the nose ie squared it off slightly without changing the rest of the outline. SORRY STC.
Thus becoming 8'10 ??? Would this impact on the performance of the board ???

They won't even measure it. They may ask at check in the length. To which you reply 9'0". Are you flying out of sydney?

Surely you are taking the piss.
I just flew Qantas with my 9'2 Stun Gun in a 9'6 cover Perth to Brisbane
It also had a paddle, a kite, harness, wetsuit top etc 20kg, they didn't blink an eye.
I was tempted to push my luck with the 10' Sunova Style, it's been done before but it can be an issue.

agree that they will not notice that small difference. I have never been caught yet. Or.....just buy a smaller board.

Pack it as it is. The Qantas baggage handlers with make sure it has a few inches missing of the nose when you arrive in Bali. You can then spend the first couple of days getting the new shorter nose profile glassed ready to take in the water.

The board has 9'1" written on it.... I agree they will not notice and if you are extremely unlucky enough to be questioned, open the bag and show them the tail.
For goodness sake don't take off the nose!!

Qantas 737's aren't containerised so if it doesn't fit in the bulk hold they will place it very carefully in the main cargo hold, hopefully!

I wouldn't take on a Qantas plane in the first place. They'll destroy that beautiful board
