According to SUPracer the tour will be coming to Australia in May next year, with the surf event planned for WA and racing on the east coast a week later. My understanding is the WA event is certainly not locked in yet. I hope they can pull this off as both series' would benefit enormously credibility-wise by staging a round in this country. And in an ideal world, the race series will manage to attract all of the top competitors to every round next year rather than just the ones who haven't been introduced to a shaver yet.

That sounds awesome. Cyclops for the surf?!

Where for the racing on the east coast? Port Stephens?

Now we just need one of our tv channels to show the world how water sports should be filmed and broadcast live..

Hmmm so maybe the Nationals could be run in April then, so all the Aussie contenders are fully race-tuned...just a thought.

The Aussie competitors are already race tuned at that time as NSW and QLD state titles have been held in April/May in the past. Nationals won't be held in April as the states would not have run their qualifying state titles by then.

Actually, there will be a bit of a bottle neck with the ISA World Titles in Nicaragua scheduled for May 3rd to 11th and this event planned for 23rd - 25th May, and from what I gather, the World Tour surf event in WA on 16th - 18th May with possibly a wider window. The NSW state titles, AKA the Southern Cross Festival of SUP has been run across these dates in mid to late May in the past.

Well it would be great if AUSup and SA get behind this to assist ironing out the wrinkles!

HI OG SUP, there is a fair bit of background (over a year) to this event as far as discussions and trying to make it happen. As with most things funding/sponsorship is an issue and there are further talks to try and get this across the line. Unfortunately I can't elaborate further at this point.

You can be assured that AuSUP and SA have been involved in this process through SUPWA and Surfing WA.

That would be awesome , as the only legit world series it would be great to see it come here. Im a bit puzzled as to why some big names dont support it.Seems the organizer has learnt heaps and the tour is geting better and better every year. The racing should be held at the mecca , Currumbin

not sure what makes it Legit, or the only one??? I couldnt figure out why there were no big names at the Brazil BOP. It had the prize money and the big event name, I even figured it wasnt that far for some of the American crew to go compared to other places?????? If it does come here, and I hope it does, it will be very interesting to see who makes the effort from overseas.

What other world series is out their? I think it is the only one , making it legit. Most of the big guns participate apart from Danny Ching and Travis Grant , I dont think they have enetred one of the events so far , maybee next year?It would be good to see the best of the best racing each other for the world crown. Maybee the reason some of the older crew dont follow the tour around is due to other commitments id say , work family ect.Where as the young guys have the luxury of being footloose and fancy free

I don't think there's any great mystery to it - there simply isn't enough money available to encourage adults with obligations and responsibilities to do the entire series. The kids on the other hand, are able to live a backpacker lifestyle without too much concern for the future. Some get help from sponsors but they are still paying their own way to a great extent. It's been suggested that Kai and Connor and maybe a couple of others are on a sweetheart deal with the organisers of the series so they get further assistance to guarantee they make every round. Jacko and Angie are an obvious exception, but I imagine they are making a lifestyle choice to support this series. Credit to them, but I can also understand why Travis and Danny and some of the others elect not to commit their limited resources. Remember it's not just the travel and accommodation expenses, but also lost wages.
