Here is a short video from a memorable day at the beach.
Up here in winterly denmark we have a lot of strong wind but often from changing directions wich means to picking the rigth spot cn be rather tricky.
This day we opted for a spot that didn't quite deliver but the shining sun made up for temperatures around 5 degrees.
SUP isn't really big up here yet and we felt that on this day. A beach walker saw us out at sea paddeling around "with no sail" and decided to alarm the coastguard. Wich meant that we were greeted by 2 ambulances , the police and fire dpt., a rescue boat and a chopper when we arrived at the beach...

I contact the water Police here each time we do a downwinder and give them a heads up.. They really appreciate it.. Once while we were enjoying a nice downwinder a little old lady called the water police and reported that someone was way out to sea and needed rescuing.. and it looked like they were standing on an upturned boat.. and appeared to be waving for help.. Sheesh! .. Next minute there's a rescue helicopter hovering over us.. They can't ignore a report like that and it cost a fortune to do a search and rescue like that.. I'd be taking those two front handes off to let the water run cleanly over the deck and off.. Unless you use them to drag the board to the water..

I actually just ordered a more downwind specific board .Riding my current (flatwater) board requires a lot of foot movement and attention to keep the nose from pearling.

At 5 degrees air temp. what's the water temp?
We paddle here in winter at 3 - 6 degrees air, water down to 11 or so.
Ran my fin on to a rock mid winter and fell in from the 6 deg. air to 11 deg. water.
Did not think 'Oh, that's warmer"

Watertemperatures also around 5 degrees, not really a problem keeping warm when you get the heartrate up. I actually took the hoodie off after a few kilometers because I was sweating :-)
