Are longer boards better in howling off shore wind with 2-4 foot surf . The two boards I have are a 11' Nalu @175 litres and 9,6.Hokua @170 litre It was 15 .knots gusting up to rough guess 18 knot .i first took the 11 ' out due to the small size of surf It was easy to hook onto the waves and could easily drive the board down the face ..had a ball for 1 hour. The tide started to come in ( bigger waves come in ),so it was time to change boards.the 9.6 Hokua ( love it) i had to get right into the steep Part of the wave ,which was Normal for a shorter board ,it was windy ...a couple of times I got blown completely off the wave on the take off.It might of been because the wind is stronger at the peak of the wave ,where with the 11' it had already caught the wave and was off and going . It catches the wave early.
So my conclusion is yes longer boards are better in windy off shore conditions.
I'd like to know if anyone has experienced this .or am I dreaming ?

I have similar boards and agree, although the Nalu catches more air and becomes an airborne missile when I fall. A helmet is a must for strong offshore wind imo.
