Guys,
Entries for the Whalebone race this weekend have been extremely poor.
Unfortunately if we don't get more entries it will have to be cancelled.
Get your entries in now or it might not happen. If the event does not go ahead all entry fees will be refunded.
At this stage conditions are looking best for Sunday, but will be confirmed on Friday.
There is $1000 Prize money for the 12'6 class. It costs $55 to enter and you get a T-shirt, Wax, Sunblock and a heap of other goodies in your show bag. There will be a Starboard SUP given away at the presentations at the Cott plus surf boards etc.
You do need to get your entries in before the event. Entry forms are available here http://www.whaleboneclassic.com.au/
A few guys have asked about a SUP surf division, but unfortunately, there is just not enough time to fit another surf division in the event.
Hopefully see you at Cott on the weekend.
Thanks,
Ian
I would love to do the event, if anything to support a SUP race event. Just a bad time of year in the middle of school holidays and family committments.![]()
I hope you get enough for the weekend![]()
would love to come over and catch up with you guys again, but lack of leave and cash spoils the party, if i lived in WA i,d be there with bells on!!!
What time is the SUP race I couldn't see it on the website, I have only got a 10'2" JL Mano surf sup so never going to be competitive but happy to have a go if I can make it.
Working a 12hr shift Saturday and nightshift on Sunday night doesn't make it easy though. ![]()
* Just read your post again Ian and it sounds like it is still up in the air regards day and time, so I will probably just enter tomorrow anyway but will only be able to make it if it is on Sunday.
I don't suppose you have a (fast)12'6" SUP i could use do you.
Im half keen, new 12'6' hobie is ready to rock, you got any room to roll the swag out tightlines , any other gero crew keen.
^ Geez Radman another one, you have a serious problem don't you. ![]()
Plenty of room at my place just let us know if and when you are coming down.
split the prize money between 12'6 class and 14' and you might get some more entries.sounds like it maybe off find out tonite.
Yep I just recently bought a 14'er and would love to be able to use it, prize money or not.
Seems a shame to have a new (secondhand)14' glide and yet have to do my first race on a JL Mano surf SUP.
Only been for two light wind, flat water, paddles since I've had it, but hanging out to do some downwinders when I get the chance.
Well that makes three of us that would be there if there was a 14 class and I think Adam would probably be keen as well. I just can't justify $55 for a 3km non down wind race with no possibility of at least getting my money back while the winner of 12'6 gets a pile of $$$.
By no means am I a an expert racer but the enticement of a bit of a prize would help swallow the entrance fee. I know there is the board up for grabs and other door prizes but it isn't the same.
