It is on again this year the Whalebone Classic.
The race this year will revert to the old course of Sandtrax to Iso's OR if the NNE does come through it will be Swanbourne to Iso's. The decision will be made on the day so that paddlers get the best conditions possible.
Registration will be from 9-9:30am at Cottesloe with a 10am start at either location.
Divisions open are:
Female surf (under 12'6 and cruiser/surf style board)
Female 12'6
Female 14
Male surf (under 12'6 and cruiser/surf style board)
Male 12'6
Male 14
Male O40
Each division will need 3 paddlers to qualify as a class and eligible for prizes. With prizes for 1st-3rd in all divisions there are plenty of goodies up for grabs from Starboard and Stand Up Surf Shop.
Should have mentioned that. Yes registration is on the day and is $15. They don't have an online portal for the sups just the surfers as they have to pay more.
Anyone going in the Male Surf division? I'm up for a cruisy paddle on the whopper if there are enough people entering...
Should be a bit of fun down there on Sunday, see you down there?
Dunny always organises the weather so it will be perfect...
Weather is looking great for the race this morning, so see you at Cott for registrations at 9.00, briefing at 9.30 and start at 10.00.
Don't forget to bring $15 for registration, leg rope, paddle and a board. See you then.
It was a beautiful day down at Cott with a 10-15knt NNE win meaning the race was run from Swanbourne to Iso's, it also meant there were a few runners out there.

So much fun and a really good vibe around the whole event.
Much thanks to the event organisers and Peter Dunn event Director - the mini market stalls were great and cool to meet local shapers, retailers, distributors and club members all pitching in to make it a very cool event!
We had an extra special display in the water at the finish of the race when a massive school of Tuna herded up a huge bait ball right in the comp zone and started feeding frenzy during a heat!
My partner Lindsay managed to capture some shots of the day including those above, so if anyone would like some hi-res pics just let her know at Lindsay@mobsurf.com.au and she will be happy to send them to you.
See you on the water!
Wow, that last photo had a surprise in it. Inside joke, but worthy of a caption contest.
Interesting to hear what the joke is?
