This one was filmed last weekend. I called it the weekend after cos it was the weekend after the great Phillip Island Stand Up Paddle Massacre. Amazing what a difference a week makes and how much more appropriate a stand up paddleboard is when you can actually stand up and paddle.
Loving the shorty at the mo. Getting to the point where I dont surf anything else and yep it has its limitations but....nothing like pushing a seven ten through the esses!!! And you know what,...reckon the next one might be shorter.
This spot is one of my favorite winter haunts and as you can see attracts a bit of traffic....large and small. The film was shot through the windscreen of my car and as such I reckon it turned out reasonably well. Have fun trying to pick the channel markers from the dead bugs! As for the music,...call it geriatric regression but the older I get the more stuff I listen to that was on the turntable in my teens.
Cheers

CSNY are all time!!
Couldnt tell you how many copies of Four Way Street I've been through over the years. Two copies on vinyl that I know of, numerous on cassette and one CD....and its a bloody double album!!
Still trying to figure a way of sneaking Southern Man on to a surf clip.

Marakesh Express!!!!the song of my youth!! Shame Neil Young didn't get on well with Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird IMO is the greatest rock song of all time!!! Funniest clip when the lead guitarist runs out of extension lead. I didn't think you'd show people that spot Sparx, not that its really a secret I suppose

Nah mate
Any spot that you can scope while you're checking out a six pack at the counter of the local IGA is not much of a secret!!
Allways thought Sweet Home Alabama was pretty cool as far as red neck right of replies go.
Hows report writing treating you......just about over it from this end. Be a great job if they would just leave you alone to do it!!

That's what I was doing! !!!!! 279 reports on the wall 279 reports, if one of those reports would be written there'd 278 reports on the wall. God I love being a specialist at report writing time....... red neck right of reply? ?? My neck is puce thank you!! It's no Little Feat to love America and its Eagles. That somehow seemed funnier in my head.........where was I???? 278 reports on the wall, 278.......??? Take care super star. Do you know how Kristi and Phill went in the states?

As participation is an integral part of this subject Leroy is placing himself in a very difficult position. Their seems to be some reluctance on his part to become involved in class activities and this is illustrated by a failure to bring correct uniform or a refusal to participate.
Fitness testing undertaken by Leroy was below average indicating that he either did not take the task seriously or needs to work on levels of fitness.
Leroy has failed to take the opportunity to participate to his fullest potential in the athletics unit this Semester. A more enthusiastic approach to the full range of track and field events would see his results for this aspect of the course work improve dramatically.
Leroy has had the opportunity to participate in a range of team and individual sports this Semester including table tennis and net ball. His performance has been characterised by a lack of enthusiasm which has been disappointing. If Leroy is to continue to participate in sport electives in the coming Semester I would suggest that he chooses an elective in which he actually has some interest.

OK so now that we're all out of the CSNY closet, and the SUP topic seems to have been derailed onto CSNY, I'll go out on a limb to say that I reckon the Stills-Young band "Long may you run" (circa 1976) is a better record (perhaps only just) than 4 Way Street when it comes to listening pleasure when driving down the surf...Oh God we're getting old...

I reckon Neil Young on his own!!
Early songs like Sugar Mountain are insane but when you hit the Rust Never Sleeps era....clearly an artist at the top of his game.
Now cut it out the lot of you, I'm trying to write reports!!

I saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse down your way Sparx (A day at the Green) on his recent Aussie tour. Awesome show, probably made even better by the fact that the heavens opened and we got absolutely p*ssed on during the show. Unlike some other artists of similar vintage, he and CH definitely haven't lost it. The audience demographic was interesting too - a lot of young people, not just old codgers and faded hippies.

Sparks was anyone else allowed to catch a wave.
Seemed everybody eventually left, and you had it to yourself.
i wonder why, but i think i know why.
Did you get any sets from the large boat passing by.

What can I say
I'm a wave hog.....anyone who has surfed with me will tell you!!
And you know what?
I learned everything I know about being a pest from your evil twin Jock...The Ghost of Gunnamatta!!
Now that crazy cat can really clear the water
Yep, had to slow it down. At the ripe old age of 52 I need to crank back the dial, put my bifocals on and stick my nose right up close to the screen.
And those big boats...they do throw up a bit of a wave, just not there. Some of the old blokes mal surf a spot thats pretty much all about wake riding.
Cheers

Mate, I was a bee's dick away from rocking up to IGA's with half of the SOUL crew to help make your day. I convinced them the wind wasn't right.!! I tell you what Sparxy, OG reef at low tide!! . Worth a mental health day on Tuesday as a reward for all your cutting and pasting Any suggestions for fin setups, I reckon I would have a---d a semi stand up barrel if I hadn't spun out setting up/delaying the bottom turn. Full paddle blade into the hilt, 8" centre fin all the way back in the box today, normal 9'2" Allwave sidefins???

Hope the following example helps you Mr Briggs.

Sparxy should be very proud of what has been an an outstanding effort throughout the course of the semester in Physical Education. He is an excellent role model and has continually provided leadership and support to the other students in his class. Sparxy shows excellent levels of fitness and understanding of strategic game playing concepts. At school we will continue to constantly monitor the progress of Sparxy throughout the course of the second semester and give him every opportunity to continue developing his gross and fine motor skills. We will begin to introduce Sparxy to a larger variety of simple games that will allow him to consolidate his understanding of the concepts of rules and safety. Sparxy's development could be further extended by encouraging him to keep playing simple games involving his balls of different sizes and by motivating Sparxy to go outside of his comfort zone and playing with other students at every opportunity. Continuing to attend any form of organised extra curricular sport, either as a spectator or participant would be a positive step to promoting Sparxy's good health as would a reduction in his daily intake of Bourbon. He should be very proud of what has been an an outstanding effort throughout the course of the semester in Physical Education considering his constant state of inebriation and resultant intolerance of students. Sparxy shows excellent levels of fitness for someone of his age and impresses with his understanding of manipulative strategic game playing concepts. Very well done Sparxy and keep up the excellent work ankles

*Ankles = all that you can see when he's that far up his Principal's a---hole!! Hopefully you can make some minor modifications and use this for your Fav's in year 12???
Cheers from the current Prince of Pain Leroy

(Hey Sparx, by the way my son Riley made the Victorian Mens Under 18 Field Hockey Team!! Newcastle here I come!!! I'm a very proud Dad) Do you or any of your elite cohort of peers know of any secret spots gleaned from your time at nationals last year??? Oh no mt glass must fill, over and out of it!!!!!!!!!!..........

Bravo sir Bravo!!
I used to love it when reports were hand written. Worked with a bloke who used to start the first letter of each paragraph with a red pen. First paragraph..Purposeful..second paragraph Responsive..third paragraph Incidental fourth paragraph..Contemporary..fifth paragraph Kinisthetic. Line em up down the side of the page and the effect was stunning!! Sent the message loud and clear. And the above example would have been one of the more tame in his arsenal.
Grove Reef...wheres that? Phil will come looking for you if you refer to it as anything other than Picnic Sheds!! And yes, at size its bloody underrated. The inside section on the sand can be insane.
IGAs was nuts again today. Should of come over. Pick your time and its relatively uncrowded and on a day like today there's plenty of other options close handy.
Congrats on the young bloke mate, that's priceless.
Cheers

Thanks Sparx, I had to look up Kinesthetic,. Yes I'm very kinesthetic. Tommorrow will hopefully finish my final drafts ready for checking. I'll spend the day listening to Ayers Rock, Steely Dan, Supertrap, Hunna's, Michael Franks and finish off with Split Enz and the Oils. Hopefully I can watch the Volcom Finals while working
